Does anyone know where or if a rain gauge using 'points' to measure rainfall is still able to be purchased?

I've checked UK and US internet sites (including ebay) but they seem to only use inches. Was Australia the only place to use points for measurement?

I realise that it is a simple conversion to convert mm to points however I have an 82 year old neighbour who has just broken his points rain gauge and is not happy with his mm rain gauge replacement.

Hope someone can help.

Rainfall measurement, Rain gauge, points, mm,
1 point = 0.254 mm, and 1 mm = 3.94 points, and 4 points = 1 mm, 100 points = 1 inch
From BOM: In January 1974 the Bureau of Meteorology made the conversion from recording rainfall and evaporation in points to millimetres

I'm not sure because I haven't had such a rain gauge for a long time, but I seem to remember that the inner tube of a Nylex 250mm gauge was calibrated in points down one side and mm down the other. These gauges are still available I believe.

I have a Nylex 250mm gauge, probably 10 years old now, but sadly mine is only calibrated for millimetres. I'm pretty sure all the newer ones are similar.

Ok, so it is not possible to purchase a new rain gauge with 'points' as a measuring unit.

Someone in the future may correct this with new information.

Maybe buy a Nylex, and add a weather-proof vinyl sticker label with points calibration?
