Hey EL Steve O, good question. The arrows represent the direction the wind is coming from (blue number is wind speed [km/h], green no. is rainfall [mm] since 9am, and red no. is the temp. [as at last time obs. were recorded])

To the right of the radar on BOM, there is a box called 'Map Features'. Make sure the 'Weather Observations' box is checked, and you will see them too. wink

edit: haha ok never mind... sorted grin

Well the bom have updated the forcast to poss storms for the south-east - interesting. Storms this time of year normally bring a bucket load of hail ( non damaging stuff ) Will the sun come out before this ?

Ooh I'm really annoyed as I haven't been paying attention frown

I went outside and emptied the rain gauge... 134mm! This would be from the beginning of this rain event I am assuming - we haven't had any other rain early last week did we? Anyone in my donut hole able to share their total? I have had constant showers and a couple of heavy rain periods.... And dam I think I just broke it's little holder on the fence, will see if it's on the ground later - I'm such a Wally lately!!! crazy

Bracken Ridge to date = 69mm. Nice. See what happens this afternoon with the possible storm.

As mostly Wrong said "yep some incredible falls overnight espicially up on the sunny coast"

Maroochydore scored an amazing 114mm as of 8:17am.

53 mm here since Friday. Mostly boring mizzle. Still a lot better than the 32 mm for the whole of May.

Yeh I don't think the models quite had this one under thumb ask to speak. The upper pattern looked to be a little different then what the models had in mind. The position of the subsidence zone above the surface coinciding with divergence on the surface played a big role. Most models had this divergence zone on the surface occuring much further south when in fact it was quite vast and leached right through Southern South East Coast. This lead to a stronger coastal trough/convergence zone forming north of Brisbane with a Direction Component coming into play which models did not forecast.

Some nice falls north of Brissy up through the Sunny Coast and Maryborough Areas with some exceeding the 100mm mark in the 24hr period to 9am this morning. I have to say that 100mm falls on the Sunshine Coast appear to be not to uncommon.

Lets see how we go with some storms today the mid to upper level moisture profile drys out a little which is a plus but im tipping this cloud cover stays with us and will inevitably reduce today's convective potential.

Patches of blue sky starting to appear out here at Brisbane AP at the moment which is a good sign for possible storms a bit later hopefully!
