Welcome to winter everyone! Looking forward to fog, frosts and snow images...or endless blue skies if you're up north Post away, and please keep in mind the size guidelines, and acknowledging the original photographer if the photos you post are not your own. Stay warm (spring is not too far away ).

Burial poles, the National Gallery of Australia sculpture garden. On the shore of Lake Burly Griffin, Canberra. ...and a late fog starting to form, near the Murrumbidgee River, on the Yass Plains. Warren.

Hey Warren, great stuff matey. In the last photo, is that orange sunlight or is a deciduous grass? I love how it contrast, cool vs warm. LOvely.

Greg, G'day. Thank you for your kind comments here and on the 'Old Snow Pics and High Country Ramplings' thread. ... In the last photo, is that orange sunlight or is a deciduous grass? I love how it contrast, cool vs warm ... Greg, the colour temperature of the light was enhanced by me, just by by increasing the saturation. There is a perennial native grass called 'Red-leg' or 'Red Grass'(Bothriochloa macra) that is found on the slopes around Canberra, which is currently about the same colour. It was visiting the new Karma Nature Reserve (off William Hovell Drive) that gave me the idea of creating the alternation between the cool and warn colours. Warren.

great stuff.... i'll have to check out the reserve this coming long weekend.
I popped out last night to see if the sunset was going to play ball, but alas a thin strip blocked the colour from getting down to the lowest clouds that were passing by parliament. I'll be out and about this coming weekend, so i hope i have better luck.
I will be dropping in on the Canberra Camera club for the first time tomorrow evening and i hope to find a photo-shoot buddy. It's always great fun to have someone to share different locations, and potentially learn from other photographers at the same time.

Greg, unfortunately Karma Nature with several other grassland and woodland nature reserves (Callum Brae, Crace, Goorooyaroo, Jerrabomberra West, Mt Painter, Mulligans Flat, The Pinnacle and Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserves) remains closed until 6 pm on Tuesday 12 June 2012 to allow for the atrocious culling by the ACT Government, of Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
Warren.

Nice Kane! I could see that storm to the NE as I driving back to South West Rocks yesterday evening, though it didn't appear to be as lightning active as the storm out to sea east of Kempsey though. My efforts for the first five days of Winter 2012: Funnel cloud near Kempsey (1/6/2012, about 12:30pm): Storm moved offshore of Port Macquarie, taken from above Oxley Beach (4/6/2012, about 2:30pm): Same storm as above from a lookout near Nobbys Beach at Port Macquarie (4/6/2012, about 2:30pm):
