The local radio station in Lithgow was talking about the chance of snow over the next 24-48 hours in the local area - but I'm not sure where they are getting their information from as there are no mentions of snow in the forecast.
With the current ECL situation, what are our chances for snow on the Central Tablelands this week?
Cheers, Andrew.

I'm struggling for words to describe how cool this would be without resorting to expletives! I love how Bell has been kindly included in proceedings! Clickable thumbnailBTW, where is everyone tonight? Thought the obs and theories would be flowing forth. Better go sleep now, Andrew.

Great stuff Paul, keep us informed.
There is the other current thread in the NSW forums but to me it seems logical to be discussing snow here under the Alpine and Snow title.
A bit of instability moving towards Blackheath as we speak, with the temp at around 2.5C

I had a quick look in the NSW forum but to be honest I just don't have the time to trawl through other threads for the high elevation bits. Looks like it's going to be a cold day at work! Andrew.

I forgot to mention, we had wild winds here again last night - in the top three for wind speed according to the weather station we've had for around three years.
I had a pretty second rate sleep - so did the rest of the family. Dragging my sorry bones around this morning.
Currently 2.3°
Andrew.

Sleeting here now, certainly some snow flakes in the mix but no genuine snowfall yet. Check my Twitter link too, some reports of snow at Gingkin and light settling.

Lovely snow shower now, says Blizz, naked just out of the shower! Had to pop outside to video it in my jeans and no shirt!

Quite heavy snow falling now. Big flakes. Winds have dropped off a lot !. If this keeps up i would expect 5 cm cover. The kids are having a ball in it. Its reminding me of last years july 19 fall.

Full light snow cover here now and its snows an snows. Temp 0.7 and still seems to be dropping. Interesting that GFS finally picked up the cold air coinciding with heavier precipitation right for the CT's at the 12z model for 00z this morning. Funny how the models always struggle with the cold pools from the SE, could be a bit like the 19th July snow event last year. I also did not see that one coming until it was here upon us.

Nice PaulH and Blizz! Arghh stuck at work but keep the reports coming. Maybe even a few pics if you're so inclined? Looking forward to some reports from PD as well.
Latest soundings show some fairly cold air aloft so must be advecting the snow showers down to quite low levels. Im actually quite surprised that Katoomba of all places on the CT's is receiving snow. I guess the lack of a westerly component has played out quite well for the BM's
