Thought I might start up a a topic on the 2012 eastern and central pacific hurricane season, although it did start last month. Two storms have formed so far this season: tropical storm Aletta and cat 3 Hurricane Bud in mid may. The overall prediction for the season is %50 near normal. Heres a link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Pacific_hurricane_season

After going camping for 3 days, a category two hurricane forms, hits Southern Mexico, and dissipates. Hmmm, I might have to go camping more often and see how many more hurricanes form.

Wow @ latest EC run. Forming a small but powerful hurricane in the gulf of Mexico and pushing it NE to affect parts of Florida and south Carolina before exiting off thr coast and moving north over the eastern Atlantic before hitting close to the northern states of north America.
Interesting times ahead.

NOAA now has a 70% chance of the low in the gulf turning into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours. They have also warned the entire gulf coast of a possible impact next week!

Should'nt that have been posted in the 2012 Atlantic and Caribbean Huricane Season topic? http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthrea...ric#Post1100087That low pressure system sure does look impressive on the sattelite though.

.. looks like there is a very active area of cyclogenesis atm of what appears to be a bunch of young TS/'s TC's emerging from a nursery.( mid left on the map below)?? Apologies if l posted this in the wrong thread? Took a snap of the globe sat pic tonight cos l reckon its a gem!! To add and As an aside.. the mid-latitudes in both the Nth and sth hemisphere are looking very well defined with high pressure belts with strong belts of NO cloud in the high pressure belt region ,mid latitudes.. a nd l just love !!! that set of cloud fronts down in the southern hemisphere atm . Nice and neatly ordered and in line atmNot so often you see the spatial global cloud cover looking so organised.. l thought.. and the massive area of convection over ASIA Doesn't the global cloud pattern look great!!
