for damaging winds
for people in the Illawarra, Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands
forecast districts.
Issued at 9:53 am EST on Saturday 16 June 2012.
Weather Situation
DAMAGING WINDS TO DEVELOP OVER CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN RANGES AND ILLAWARRA COAST
ON SUNDAY MORNING.
A low is expected to deepen off NSW South Coast overnight and on Sunday while a
ridge strengthens over inland New South Wales. Those two systems will combine
to produce damaging winds from Sunday morning. Winds are likely to abate later
on Sunday afternoon or evening as the low moves away from the coast.
Locations which may be affected include Goulburn, Bowral, Nowra, Wollongong,
Katoomba and Lithgow.
DAMAGING WINDS are expected to average over 65 km/h in the Illawarra and
eastern parts of the Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands from Sunday
morning with peak wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h.

Dave sure is good rain, see it starting to settle in paddocks on highway, think will hang around for awhile! tonight will be interesting with high winds coming in!
Im on shift tonight from 10pm, so will see how busy it can be with power outages!

I think the winds have already peaked this afternoon around here, the stronger winds moving North now with the trough.
Has been a good drop of rain though 28mm here.

Yes aslaws, certainly has been a coolish day, and temp dropping now to just 4.4, max was still well before sunrise. The rain has been amazing up to 37mm here now, I bet that is a lot more than you this time. Police advising Black ice on roads around this area! Getting colder quick.. The police are so silly if they say that, zero chance of that.

That warning surprises me a bit. We had "rain" for today's forecast. Miserable showers were the best we got. Barely measurable. And I didn't see the outside temp go above 7c. negligable wind though, so it'll be interesting if this wind eventuates. Looks like the affected areas are north of here, but Goulburn's not that far.

Looks like I really got the bullseye of this one, 39.4mm all up so far.
Stronger winds according to models were always further north.

We've just had a gust near 60kph. Seems to be what we get these days, just some fresh to strong winds with the guts of most fronts staying well south.

Did get some wind today, mid to high 20s from the NNW all day, and some sun and clouds. Not a drop of rain though, and the gauge from yesterday was damp in the bottom, not even a mm in it. Bah.

Rained all day on Saturday while down in Sydney.
Good forecast for the rest of this week in the Hunter Valley, hopefully the ground should dry up!
