I thought it was interesting to note that Hurricane Chris, a currently active storm, is the second most northerly forming tropical storm/hurricane on record in the Atlantic Ocean. It formed at Latitude 39.3 N. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Atlantic_hurricane_season
