Booked on an A320 back North, and then *cringe* a Fokker 100 back South. Almost makes you want to walk it...

Yeah, I must be on a codeshare. 10 out of a 100 wouldn't be too bad.

But jeeze they aren't too kind on the old ears, nor (form memory) was the leg room/seat size too generous either. I'm not quite sure how it can be so noisy with the engines at the rear - 717's are quite as!

I haven't flown alliance yet. Didn't think they would be real noisy.

They don't look it Trav but they're heaps noisy. If you've ever been on a 717 - it's quite the opposite. All you can hear is wind against the fuselage because the engines are right at the back. Maybe it's just noisy old engines and older sound deafening in the materials or something...

Pretty surprising hey, they have pretty much the same fuselage as a 717. Weird.

Just had my first flight on a A330. Much nicer to fly in than the usual syd - bne bird that I usually take....aka the 767. Much more quiet and comfortable.

While in a holding pattern over the gold coast, noticed a green laser pointer being pointed at the plane. He got me in the eye, man that hurt my eye, I was seeing stars. The guy did it for like 20 seconds and then stopped.

Reported it to the captain after landing and they saw it too, currently being investigated, oh yeah!

yeah the A330's are a nice plane, flew in one between melb and syd once, but you really appreciate them between brissy and perth, in fact i changed my flight back from perth last year to be on one instead of a 767 because of the comfort and the tv screens!!
great flight too, went as south as adelaie at 1100km/h before swinging northwards into brissy.

Was gonna say Trav, sure you didn't see the lightshow from Brisbane Festival? poke

No good man, what kind of idiot does something like that to a plane carrying hundreds of passengers...

Here you go aviation nuts. This site shows the actual position of flights around the globe in real time and 5 minute delay (color coded). Well 60 percent of them. Those plains fitted with the tech needed to trace them. So you can track a friend's flight across the globe. Pretty cool huh?

Click on the plane to follow it or simply place the cursor over the plane to get the flight number. Enjoy.

Yup, and you can also download a app of the iTunes store for it.

Amazing the technology hey, I have it on my iPhone and use it to make sure my flights are on time.

Man, everything was swell this morning. Only a 10min wait in the line to checkin, breezed through security and boarding was slightly early...

Only to have a couple of people late to the flight, so we got delayed. In the meantime, a queue of about 10 planes had formed waiting to take off (~9am), whilst waiting for those in the pattern to land. A real bottleneck. We waited for at least like 20mins I reckon, but I was cool with it - got to see some closeup 777 and A330 action wink

Landing at Prossy was weird as well, it felt like he set up for a straight in approach. Dumped the flaps and stuff, but kept the wheels up. We got real low (lower than normal, or at least the times I've come in) until the engines spooled up and we flew right over the terminal - which never happens at Prossy. Then it was a really short Finals and we were down.

Still love flying!

I feel the more you know about flying the more you panic. I sit there before take off makin sure the captain has checked the hydraulics and flaps and stuff haha! Flying freaks me out, but I love it??? I don't get it. Like it really interests me and I love it, but I get nervous as hell sometimes.

A330 is beautiful. So much nicer than a a320

Just recently for Ausfly at Narromine, flew over for the day. A great collection of all types of aircraft.

I had 2 video cameras on flight over..

Have made this clip of the day .

Countryside looked nice from the air DC. Well done. smile

I love mustangs!!! (and spit's and sea fury's etc)

At least a few war birds of varying types there, looked like a Harvard etc there.

Two of the best things I ever saw was there in the mid 80's (whilst living in Dubbo)

1) an ultralight took off ACROSS the airstrip not along it and had heaps of room to spare

2) A glider came belting down at the end of the tar strip and proceeded to stay about 2 metres above the surface for the whole length then pulled up at the far end and continued flying up and away, I knew gliders were supposed to be good but that exercise blew me away.

Flew out of Mackay earlier today, F100 was delayed 30mins departing Brisbane due to weather and the associated traffic problems.
Made up a most of the time on the trip home, but getting into Brisbane the pilot was dodging the heavier turbulence, so it was pretty cool weaving through the clouds. We popped out of cloud a couple of hundred feet or so above the water for a straight in (and rather fast) approach & landing. I guess we got lucky and there was an open slot, so we had to take it fast!

When I got off, there was a groundie standing over the wheels looking at the brakes or something.

Nah, we didn't blow a tyre, we would've known about it if that was the case.

I think it might've been something to do with the brakes, I vaguely heard the groundie say something that might've been 'he's cooked the brakes...'

Meh, I got off in one piece so I'm happy smile
