A bit of snow on the deck just now, easing off now. It did look nice though. Very similar to events in the past when the pressure has been fairly high but mid level winds were good enough to give us something, as well as good timing just on dark etc. Got down to around 0.5C here. My new deck finally gets christened: http://www.blackheathweather.com/winterphotos/snow-deck1-7-12a.jpg

Just checked the afternoon forecast update for the CTs. Monday Cloudy. Areas of morning frost. Isolated showers in the south until evening, falling as snow above 1000 metres during the morning Hopefully when it's not so dark.

Great stuff everyone. I know it's a bit lame for those lower down and the frustration and expectation must be enormous. Yep, 100 mtrs makes a huge difference. Surprised Blizz that you weren't in that chair sipping a glass of merlot christening the first snowfall on the deck. Hope you guys get a better deal overnight. Looking good on the sat pics. 10.7 here now. Fire going beautifully. Homer

All over for the moment, starry sky outside. The small amount of settled snow is melting.
1.3°C
Can't wait for the next blob of precip to arrive.
Andrew.

Went to Corin Forest at 1200m. Heavy snow shower around two but no settling with car temp of 1 degree. Interestingly the sleet started at five degrees and snow at three Returned at four to have a lighter snow shower but some sludgy settling. Now near Lake George where it is 4 and raining lightly. No sign of sleet.

Yeah Homer, I'm a whisky drinker these days and even then much less than I used to be. I had forecast 1cm of slush as possible, which is about what we got but hey, we will take that here in the sub-tropics. I just had a gut feeling we would get some snow so didn't chase today. I'm forever missing my home snow when out on the OP. Thanks to the gorgeous Mrs Blizz (Best wife I've ever had) for these pics. http://www.blackheathweather.com/picture2012.html

I assume though Blizz that it ain't over yet and you may receive a bit more overnight, with still some on the ground in the morning? Sounds, and looks, like there's plenty of moisture on the way and temps seem to be favourable for you........just!

Yeah Homer, going off the charts I would say that 1 to 2cm is not out of the question by daybreak, possibly a touch more if we got lucky. Of course, zilch is also just as likely.
GFS even has moisture for us overnight and tidy uppers and 700hPa too. If we get a good little fall it could be missed by locals as it wont probably get to zero and the snow will melt fast.

Arrived very late at Shooters Hill But had a good fall with decent size flakes about 50 kms from the turn off to Shooters Hill rd.Travelled from Goulburn. There was some good accumulation all the way along Shooters Hill rd. Met some really nice people at Shooters Hill at 5.30pm. Steve and Sophie and were having alot of fun in the snow. Steve follows WZ forum and enjoys everyones posts. We will have to get him to join up. Staying at Oberon tonight and will be checking out the snow falls tomorrow.

There's been light, occasionally moderate, rain on and off at Millthorpe over the past hour with the temp sitting around 2.5. Augurs well for those of you at higher altitudes to our east. The water vapour satellite returns show the large cloudmass has now reached us, right on the GFS 700hPa moisture forecast, and looks as if it will last through the evening. Wagga and Yarrawonga radars show a steady stream of showers heading in the direction of the CT.
The BM snow reports are a little surprising, but go so show that if a convective cloud system has enough oomph it will overpower the bleaching effect of higher country to the west. Enjoying reading everyone's reports.

Just came back home...
Shooters Hill was amazing! Came across an Indian couple from Rooty Hill who took their child as I have taken my little sister to take pictures for us as I have taken piictures for them and we all have enjoyed oursleves out that way. I didnt expect to see heavy snow falls, just a flurry of snow!
As soon as I got to Blackheath on the way back, at first it started to sleet then wet moderate snow by the time i got to the petrol station, it got a bit heavier by the time I got to Katoomba.
By the time I reached Leura, it turned into sleet.
I shall some post some pics on here as some of the pics you guys have posted is amazing!

SSC, what snow depths do you reckon there were at or around Shooters when you were there, and what time was that?

Back home after a really nice snowchase!
As I was reaching Katoomba by 11ish, snow pellets started to fall which was amazing given the fact thatc this was a marginal event for moisture. Small snowgrains were also falling at Blackheath.
Around 2.00 clock, it started to snow quite well at oberon and I drove in that snow to Mount Trickett. No settling but shooters had a nice cover.
On the way back on duckmalai rd around 4.30, there were very intense snow pellet showers (had to have the wiper at full to see ahead) and the sides of the roads were starting to become white
As i climbed back to blackheath around 5.30, it started snowing quite big flakes and were settling on the car nicely. This turned into rain past leura.
This was a pretty good event IMO considering that even blackheath was seeing nice flakes by the evening. Cant wait to chase again next year!
