Yeah definitely something going on in the Kuril Islands region.

Also duckweather, all the action is in this saide and the Japan side, nothing on the US side. You would think surely that something would have to give on that side with all the movement everywhere else?

BTw i think something major around Indonesia..

Hi Anthony smile
The Gulf of California (and surrounds) is grumbling away, as is the Chile/Argentina region. I think California will see an M5+ sooner rather than later, given the clusters.
Japan will be visited by a few more M5+'s too.
I knew Indonesia/Philippines was going to get a couple of doozies today.
The many M5's happening today along the left side of the ROF (ring of fire) may indicate a general similar energy/movement all along the plate being generated within a short space of time.
In saying this, I'm guessing such, it can be somewhat predicted that if one or a few M5's pop up along this line of the plate, you can almost predict that possibly (one, many or even all of) e.g. Japan, Kuril Is., Samoa, Solomons, Philippines/Indonesia, Fiji, Papua NG, Taiwan etc., will also be impacted.
But please remember, I am not an 'expert' in seismology.
So some (or many crazy ) of my predictions could be 'off'.

Fiji just had a very deep (503 kms) 4.6
You're probably thinking - does DuckWeather have a life? Must be glued to the EQ activiy feeds crazy
Ok, I've given myself a day off today and am enjoying doing 'nothing' grin

Japan has just had a M4.6
Time to watch the left of ROF for a while.
As I say this though, I care about people affected by the quakes I talk about.

The Western-Indian Antarctic Ridge, which is (well) due south of south western WA, has just had an M4.9 (depth 10kms).
Haven't seen one there for a while.

As I predicted....the California region is getting up there with M4's and the regions around Turkey (latest M3.7) is rumbling and starting to 'throw up' a couple of bigger rumbles....and NZ with near M5's (M4.7's).
Have been out all day ('popped in' at lunchtime) tired so am only now catching up on what's been going on...will get back in a minute wink ..........

Was just thinking I may be sounding a bit like a smart alec, as if I am some sort of Nostradamus, saying that I am "predicting" earthquakes....
I am just an amateur, with a tremendous interest in all things 'earthy'.
Thinking of changing the 'prediction' word I've been using to perhaps 'forcasting' or gut-feeling or PE (possible event) smile
I don't like sensationalists and wouldn't want you guys to get the feeling I was one wink
Anyway...back to 'obsessing' over my various quake feeds wink

The EQ app is just about the only thing I have learnt to use properly on my new phone blush
Gotta get my teenagers to educate this old duck about all the bits and bobs on the phone/ technical thingy grin

Kuril Islands just had an M5.6 (40kms deep)(near japan) as I had anticipated in an earlier post. I presume there will be a following tremour with a quake that size.

I could be very wrong here, as I have only had a quick sqiz at the EQ feeds - but get a feeling that Mexico/Guatemala may pop up with a moderately sizable EQ today.

In addition to what I said in last post, I feel that China will experience a large quake soon. Pressure is apparently building there.
As always, I hope I am proven wrong (and probably will) as I don't wish to see any community suffer from the outcomes of such.

Just as I was typing this - I was going to say that NZ was going to perhaps experience another quake - and it has.
The Kuril Islands will continue to pop up with M3 to M5 (+?), I feel , for a while yet. Every 10-12 hours or so, (very) generally speaking, there seems to come a 'run' of activity.
I feel that places like Samoa, Fiji, Japan, Taiwan, Vanuatu, PNG and NZ (the countries down the left side of ROF) will have potential for more EQ's today, given Kuril and NZ experiencing some more quakes.
Still have a sticking feeling about Mexico/Guatemala.
Argentina/Chile will continue to 'grumble', popping up the odd M5 (?).
I feel the Middle East may again throw up an M5 +, at some point. ? Afghanistan/Pakistan.
Again, though, these are just 'feelings' and please don't take these as 'predictions' wink
