I really should live in a cooler climate. I just walked back home and my shirt was drenched with sweat, wish it was a bit cooler so I would sweat so much. I'm now cooling off...... Otherwise quite a nice day but still hanging out to spring for our storm season to fire up again, even if it means warm sweaty weather.

You might get your wish for a temporary 'colder climate' over the next few days, MC.

Yes you are not wrong about the weather getting colder... Tuesday and Wednesday this week coming - look like it will dip overnight to low single digits. Brrrrr
Hubby actually mowed the lawn yesterday for the first time in ages. That is a big pro with the Winter months, the grass hardly growing. But the weeds have gone nuts. I'll be old and grey by the time I pull them all out.

There's some early signs of a possible rain event near SE Australia in the 2nd week of this month (next week) but still too early to tell for sure if it'll affect SE QLD/NE NSW or remain offshore. Latest ensembles have fairly high probabilities of decent precip rates just near the coast & offshore for around then, but are somewhat indecisive a bit further inland. Below is a meteogram generated by the GFS ensemble (GENS) which shows the probabilities of Brisbane Airport getting more than 10mm rain per day. You can see there's a bit of a peak in modest probabilities next week:

-2.7 in Kingaroy. The frost didn't melt until about 8:45 thismorning and there was a thin layer of ice on a puddle left over from the rain last week. Looks like tonight will be even colder, I recon it will be -4 here.

The 1st image below is the output from my newly-finished GrADS script which ingests data from the GFS ensemble then outputs it to a .kml (Google Earth file). It shows the probabilities of total rainfall exceeding 50mm during Day 8 to 16 (the 9 days following next Tue). The probability scale is on the image. Unfortunately I'm not an IT guru so I couldn't get the green over eastern Australia to appear lighter (it's not supposed to be that strong). Anyway the moral of the story is that the probabilities are fairly high offshore but still a bit undecided over land. The 2nd image is the same thing except on a standard 2D map where the more modest probabilities over land compared to offshore are probably easier to see. Will be interesting to see whether or not this system evolves.
