Hi All,

I was wanting to purchase a weather station for home. I have read mixed reviews on Oregon/La Crosse and Davis stations.

I would not really like to spend more than $300 if at all possible.

Also I am running on a Mac computer, does anyone else download to a mac?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Morry and welcome to the forum. WZ has it's own shop which sells all of the above brands (from memory) but if you want a cheap but decent system there are a number from Jaycar that fit the bill.

Jaycar Touch Screen $199.00

Jaycar WirelessWeather Station $149.00

Jaycar 7" LCD Wireless Weather Station $199.00

Sorry can't help with your Mac questions. But I'm pretty sure there are a fe wmemebrs who use Macs on teh forum - just post a question in teh Lounge about them and I'm pretty sure you will get some answers.

Can get stations similar to the Jaycar one (Actually just newer models) on eBay for like $100 less: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=...-All-Categories

Fair bit of software out there, so you may be able to find something for Mac.

Yep just build yourself a Solar radiation shield to replace the useless one that comes with all fine offset stations (Jaycar)/Cheap Ebay Ones. Look at the cumulus forum for more details. Plenty of mods on their to increase accuracy with these stations.

I am always fascinated by weather. Recently I set up my personal weather station, which is technologically more sophisticated. If you want the best weather station, you can simply go through The Hua=man Nest . I am immensely benefited setup my weather station from here.

I have an Oregon system which has worked OK until now. Unfortunately the wind speed indicator has frozen up and is U/S. Cant get a replacement so will have to replace the entire systm. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Pretty much the same ,Or pay a fair bit more for a Davis weather station .I have had one station Oregon style or Digitech fail in the wind speed bearing .I sprayed it with silicone spray and got another 6 months out of it.Boils down to your bank balance .I will be using the cheaper one unless they change it to much.
