Another day of the same old weather. Was suprised at how cool last night was and nice to see some low fog/mist in the paddocks this morning. In fact it almost looked like a light frost.Definatly drying up here as rocks have started growing out of the ground again. At least I don't have to water these....

It was beautiful this morning, yet no rain or storms, shaping up to be a dry summer, hope I'm wrong.

Mornings are cool and nice

Much like drought weather but normal enough from my past 12 years of living here

If only!!!! Would be good, but probably won't eventuate being so far out!

Heres the BOMs take on next weekend:

Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
A new cooler change will move into western Queensland on Thursday, and is likely to spread into Queensland's northern districts during the weekend. Fine and mainly sunny conditions across most of the state except for some isolated showers about parts of the east coast, and some isolated showers and storms associated with a weak upper level trough over the central and southern districts during the weekend.

So still it's near calm here this afternoon. Current wind speed is only 4 km/hr.
Thankfully, that should have completely changed by this time tomorrow. BOM CWS page shows winds gusting in the 35 knot range tomorrow afternoon.

Unfortunately, i don't think we'll get much next weekend either.
The BOM's state outlook mentions this:
"The surface trough will move further eastwards into the central interior, however the airmass will remain too dry for any shower or thunderstorm activity."

Drove from Cairns to Prossy today and saw each sugar mill's chimney stack smoke going straight up until i got to Prossy when there was a faily strong S wind blowing the smoke sideways towards the north.

Showers increasing for next Sunday is getting my hopes up...

PVW has access to the Bureau's CWS (Commercial Weather Service) which is not part of their free to the public forecasts.

Thanks Firepac, I thought that might of been the case. Had a very light sprinkle of rain last night but not enough to wet the rain gauge. Maybe we might get some from the left over of the storms that are forecast for out west early next week.

Why the BOM doesn't make the CWS forecast the standard is beyond me... I go to wunderground.com and check some place in the USA and the amount of detail their nowcast gives is awesome. We get stuck with these bland forecasts.

GFS still has storms a possibilty for sunday, good to see the bureau mention it in the forecast too. Hopefully at the very least we might get 5-10mm of wet stuff.

Yeah the official forecast sounds good:
Quote:
Forecast for Sunday
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, tending to rain areas at times.

Mackay: Few showers and a possible storm. Min 18Max 29

GFS seems to still be half onto storms, but the BOM CWS says this:
Quote:
RAINFALL - Fine conditions look to be the most likely outcome weatherwise. The latest guidance continues to project some potential for rainfall Sunday and early next week but for now probability of rain exceeding the 10 mm threshold is deemed to be only about 10%.

THUNDERSTORM - Reduced forecast confidence in the long term but at present perhaps a 10% chance Sunday. At this stage, a lesser chance Monday.
