Just thought i'd start up this thread for when there are no other places to post observations of interest for NSW.

Currently 2.0C here with a dew-point (DP) of -1.8C & grass temp of -0.3C (min so far -2.0C). We have a light dew or possibly frost.

cheers,
Grant

A decent band of Sc cloud now approaching from the SE - seems those coastal showers are not too far away now.

Today has been cool to mild here with moderate S winds.

Well an unexpectedly cold night here in my area atm, almost the coldest of the year so far!

I had a min of 2.0C at 0431 while Williamtown has been down to 4.1C at 0152 & Tocal down to around the 6C mark between about 0100 & 0300.

Another chilly one here tonight, though I expected this one. Temp here has been between 3 & 4C for over the last 3 hours. Currently 3.4C here with a cooler 2.7C at Williamtown & 3.8C at Tocal.

I also note -5.2C at Glen Innes Ap atm. BoM forecast of -2C already smashed, though they did forecast -5C at both Armidale & Inverell which I thought was a little unusual (being 3C lower than Glen Innes). smile

Also note that the forecast is for the town of Glen Innes, not the airport. In light wind situations, the airport is almost always several degrees cooler than the town (for example, yesterday, Airport min -6, town min -2)...

Yes- I've always wondered why Glenn Innes (and Armidale, Woolbrook and Tenterfield for that matter) seem to have such a great difference in the minimum temperatures between the aiport and the town centre. Reasons for this? confused

Minimum of 3.2 deg this morning... not the coldest day of 2006, but up there with one of the coldest mornings. The high cloud progressively moved throughout the North Shore earlier this morning (around about 4am I assume) which provided a blanket to our potential freezing morning temperatures. Would've been great to see some frost and take some pics... but not to be. frown

Steve laugh

Despite yesterday marking the warmest day so far in August (max 18.5C) the grass min early this morning was -3C again. Frost was widespread, along with frozen dew on the car. That makes it the fifth frost this month!

SO cold here atm BRRRRR. 12.1/4.4... so rather dry also. 59% and 1015.7. Looking like a freezing start to a cold night ahead... however cloud approaching from the W/SW should eliminate the chances of plummeting below 5 degrees for the North Shore tonight. wink

Seems like people are listing frosty mornings on this thread now.

I have not contributed to the "Frosty Mornings" thread since 21 July. That is because there haven't been any! :p

Well, hardly any. The only sub-zero screen readings were -0.5 on Aug 3, -0.9 and -0.3 in the last two days.

These frosts hardly compare with the -2.8, -2.6 and -2.9 of 8-10 July.

Things have warmed up now... with increased high cloud cover and freshening W winds. 13.9/2.1... still dry, 45% and 1018.0 hPa. Was expecting these temperature stabilising conditions to approach the Metropolitan more around 11pm or 12am... but has occured earlier than expected. Now looking at a minimum of around 8 degrees. smile

Another cold night on the cards tonight... 7.6/5.5, 87% and 1024.2. Certainly a significant chance of decent fog around early tomorrow morning with moist air lingering over the North Shore. laugh

Mainly clear up here atm with a moderate fog. Currently 5.3/4.3C here, just had 4.5C on the way home. Also noticed a solitary flash of lightning through light fog to the far south on the drive home!
