Albion Park minimum was 22.2C, so warmest March night in about 18 years of record.

First real fog of the season this morning!
Quite prominent here in the Hunter Valley, this late in the morning, no doubt will burn off pretty quickly though.

We only had a shallow fog. It was all gone by 9am. Yesterday was warm, sunny and very humid here didnt take much activity to raise a sweat. We got to 21.6C. The next 3 days here will be a bit of a heat wave for this time of year: 25C, 25C and 26C. More rain on Thursday, then a dramatic cool down for the weekend with 14C expected on Saturday and Sunday.

Very warm again. Up at Newie airport today. Might nudge 30 if the seabreeze doesnt take edge off. Summer aint gonna let go away with blocking highs and heat dragging troughs. I think you have said Dave that its only after Anzac day you see a real season change and not the seesaw of early Autumn

Quite warm and perfectly sunny here as well. Decided to head to the beach after Uni this morning as I often do, and the water looked very enticing. Couldn't help putting my feet in. I would've gone for an actual swim if I had a towel. The northerly breeze was also the perfect temperature.

We look at Anzac day out here as the approximate time where our first frost has happened or very close. Not always the way every year but often enough that it's an established "fact" out here smile

Same as never plant tomatoes before October long weekend out here, late frost might get them. smile

Usually April is a month of single digit overnight temps, we generally dip under 10 (& stay under) late in March. Not the case this year though, overnight temps for this March running higher than the January & Feb long term averages. It's been a month of temps about 4 degrees above average.

Now we just have to see what April brings us smile

Another beautiful day in Sydney today, mostly clear skies, light sea breezes and pleasantly warm (probably maxing at about 28 here).

It looks like we get another couple of fine days, followed by an early change Thursday with possible heavy falls and storms. Even Bathurst forecast to pick up 6 - 25mm. After that there's a long period of South Easterlies and a bit of a cooldown, with Sydney forecast a run of 22 degree maxima, about a degree or so below the seasonal average for early April. Not sure whether that constitutes an 'event'.

Last April, Sydney had two 30+ maxima, including a new record. However, this year seems to be different. There's still hot air in Central Australia, but the circulation looks set to remain in an Easterly pattern for the time being, as it has been throughout most of March, pushing it away from the East Coast. I think the heat is finished for the coast this season.

Agree Steve. Certainly out here, I reckon this weekend is a major turning point in the season. smile

Actually for 2016-7, the seasons have by and large progressed in a fairly orderly fashing, with Spring and Summer starting on time.

We had a major turning point around Feb 25 when "Hot Summer" ended, more or less on time, unlike last Summer which continued well into March. From Feb 25, something you might call "Monsoon" started - warm and wet, with warm nights and days, none particularly cool or hot, winds almost permenently from the Eastern or South Eastern quadrants, and rain, often heavy, on most days.

It remains to be seen whether 'Monsoon' continues into April with a gradual cooling, or whether the end of this week marks another turning point on the road to Winter.

Yes spring was quite mild and normal, without any really hot days. Summer didn't really get hot until late December, where usually it happens a lot earlier.

A wonderful day of weather here, reached about 29C at home. Even a bit hot in the mid afternoon with very little breeze.

Today was ya typical coastal summer day. By typical I mean I mean high twenties with a nor easter. Got close to 30 at Williamtown today. Felt it too.

Outside is warm still.

It was summery in other places too; Wilcannia reached 44.0, two weeks later than such a temperature has ever previously been reached at any NSW site (or, to put it another way, more than 3 degrees higher than anything ever reached on or after 27 March).

Equivalent records were set yesterday for SA (44.5 at Ceduna) and today for Queensland (43.7 at Birdsville), although by smaller margins.

Wow.
That's a fairly substantial record I would suspect.
Certainly plenty of heat left in the interior.
Thanks Blair.

Yeah interesting fact Blair, I had no idea there was so much heat in NSW, though I remember yesterday seeing Ceduna at 44C.

Anyway a lovely morning at the beach before the seabreeze came up:
