We have 13mm in the gauge for today's falls atm, with more on the way by the look of it, so since the break in the weather we have had 82mm. Please keep it coming!

Missed here too. All storm activity is to our NE. Haven't had much luck with rain recently. Not encouraging is that the BoM have increased the odds of a hot and dry spring. At the current rate October in this district is shaping up to be drier than normal, though still quite cool - tomorrow will be about 7įC below average.

Not sure mate - my rain gauge is busted. I need a new one.
Locally though, there were falls of between 23 and 32 mm's, so I've no doubt it was in that range. All fell within 2 hrs. It was heavy.

Edit - Looks like there could be some more heavy falls possible with the next band building as it heads east, just as this morning's did.

I had 24.1mm in the gauge at my location at Stanhope Gardens. Lightning and Thunder was not very close, but rain was very heavy.

I think all the rain is getting very heavy as it approaches the coast because it hits the moist martime boundary which is very active with this SE, you can see some drizzle activity floating over the blue mountain moving in from the east.

Yep, agreed. I also noticed those light showers in the SE airstream.

Norah Head has picked 47 mm's so far, with 34 of that falling in the past hour, after sitting under an orange cell.

Geez, that building cell near Blackheath died in the arse pretty quickly!

Can someone please toss a lasso around that orange blob that is stuck around Katoomba and drag it down into the Basin?

Haha! Yes, it just refuses to move! So frustrating.
I was washed out from work today anyway so it may as well make its way towards us.

22mm today here. Not on town water here, my water tank is now full. Good to see that blob over catchment. Warragamba is at 66%. Fireplace is going. Its 14c outside and cosy inside. Rain has lightened off last 30mins, looks good west but could easily shrink up and dissipate as often happens

Cold air starting to push in now too. Down to 4 degs at a PWS in blackheath (1050m) right under that heavy rain band. Chance of some snow flurries up there in the higher parts later tonight with any straggling showers.

Well it was nice to have a surprise storm this morning plus a decent total - 14 mm at Chatswood, bringing the October rainfall to date there to 116 mm. My storm spreadsheet has four events for the season to date, Sept 7, 26, 28 and today. The events on Sept 26 and 28 were pretty minimal here.

That being said, I'm not too keen on the forecast for the coming week, cloudy with cool temperatures and small amounts of rain, like some bleak city in the North of England. Happy to see a warm signal in NAEFS ( NAEFS 8-14 days) for 8-14 days out and a warmer, drier pattern in the second week of GFS.

That warm signal would be what the EC weeklies have also been picking up on. Some warm weather after all this rain will really get the lawns and plants going!

I'm giving growing tomatoes in containers on my balcony a go this year, but with the lack of sun lately they have hardly grown at all. frown

Yes I'm going to be loving all weeds that are going to be sprouting up after 2 months of above average rain.
My garden is already already full of them, but it's nice to see my entire suburb covered in greenery it has been a long time coming.

Latest models arenít real keen on that warmth anymore, with all going for more substantial rain events over the next 2 weeks.

ACCESS esp looks superb - great follow up rains for most of NSW.

Some 24.8mm since 9am yesterday, and some light drizzle still falling.
Looks like October will have above average rain for the month even at this early stage, for the first time in several months. (July for instance only had a measly 0.8mm, only June was close to average)
Can cope with the mediocre high teen max temps with the rain around.

Cool, cloudy with sunny breaks here this morning. The wind's dropped right back. It hadn't rained for a while, probably since yesterday evening, but I'm just getting a light to moderate sun shower now. The radar shows showers about in the SE stream.

Yes, no real warmth in the models now, with some widespread follow-up rain, not just on the coast, but hopefully a bit warmer.

28mm here. rained steady pretty much until about midnight. There was heavier stuff all around, but not once did we get under a heavy bit. Might have managed 50 if we had been lucky there. No complaints, but we just need so much to make a difference. Main dam came up about 3 inches. If it can keep up every 3 or 4 days, then the dry creek beds will start to respond and the dams improve. At least theres some potential in the models.
