Thursday evening last, some storms about; not close - Wellington to Coolah area - perhaps 80 to 150km away from here. I had (at about 10.40pm) a fascinating experience in watching a jet go over here; most likely a 747. It was moving in clear sky, and then became substantially shrouded in cloud. I could follow its progress through the cloud by frequent small lightning flashes. These were followed, in time, by small thunder rolls added to the noise of the jet. Just fascinating!! :p

Hey tonyob!!! Welcome to the forum. AWESOME to have someone from Merriwa on the forum, no one around that Far Upper Hunter region on the forums. The area seems to get lots of storms, keep us posted this season laugh

Freezing and rather moist here tonight!!!!!!! eek 7.3/ 5.4, 88% and 1020.4 atm. Going for a minimum of 6 degrees around 6:30am with potential widespread fog, despite the fact that "fog" isn't mentioned in the Sydney Forecast. :p

Yeah welcome tonyob, will be nice to have some observations from your part of the world!

Some widespread but patchy heavy fog around here atm. By that I mean it is covering a pretty wide area with the odd clear pocket thrown in.

Yeah, I had a min of 5.7C this morning & up to 22.6C atm.

I find a lot of my fogs develop in the valley immeditately behind our place to the south. I would also say that the number of fogs to the immediate west of RT around the rivers would also be considerably higher than I record.

11.4/ 9.2, 87% and 1018.3 here atm... had some awesome CC's and CA's to the SE of here... just visible thanks to the clearing of trees in the right direction. Few sparks to the NE too, but rather infrequent. The storms that developed and raced further out to sea produced a waterspout eek (according to Bono on the BWU thread... looking forward to some insane shots Bono) and frequent CG's. Unexpected and what a great night to start off this run of showers and storms for the earlier half of this week!!!! laugh

Gotta love this weather.

About a week ago I recorded my all-time highest daily wind run of 488.6km & till 9am today I recorded a near record lowest of just 5.3km. What is even more amazing is that since 9am today (over 15hrs) I have only recorded a total wind run of 1.8km - well & truly in record territory!

Bright, sunny and not a cloud in the sky atm. After an extremely exciting start to September, the clear skies are back and running... with no rain in site for the next 2 weeks. frown

Well the outlook isnt looking good with these boring conditions set to continue frown . Least weve got some moisture around 13c DPs in sydney atm. Hoping to see those 35c days with 25c+ DPs this summer followed by evening destructive storms and flooding rains smile

Been some awesome fogs the last couple of mornings in the Hunter. Coming down the F3 around Mt White - Brooklyn has seen ~50m visibility both yesterday and this morning...certainly wakes one up at that hour!

Other than that, absolutely glorious weather atm...far cry from this time last week.

I noticed the fog in my area Fri morning, got up at around 0430 & things were all clear, at first light had another look out the window to see a pea-souper (vis <200m). Driving was interesting cause the air was a rich thick blue colour (was daylight before the sun was visible).

Yes, been some insane weather here of late, if you like gardening and playing tennis. Nice and mild overnight with a 4.8C min in the screen this morning - shorts weather on the courts!

Just had a light shower of rain here, hoping for a little more to test out my AWS rain gauge that has now been fixed & re-connected after several years.

Unfortunately cannot see what is coming either due to a 'technical fault' with the Newey radar which is due to be fixed tomorrow apparently. Sky mainly clear atm & Sydney radar is clear, so i'd say that will be it for a while.
