Just got back from Talbingo which is between Tumut and Cabramurra. More or less continuous rain there since Thursday lunchtime. Had to leave around 11am when it was bucketing down, very treacherous on roads, the paddocks and creeks were gushing. But brown countryside looked like it needed rain. Recorded 24mm to 9am at Talbingo (24hrs) with total of 46mm to 11am today (2 days). I think it hammered down all afternoon too. Light rain all way back to Sydney except for small break around Moss Vale. Massive traffic snarls at Liverpool on SW frwy.

Really picked up here in the last 1/2 hour or so, hope it continues, bit jelly about Orange getting so much more than us. Really wish there was a radar west of Orange so we could see what is happening out there, gonna be some big totals by morning.

Good to see some good amounts west of the ranges. Pretty depressing in Sydney though especially being the weekend. I noticed the rain band is coming from a south-southwesterly direction now, wind change perhaps? The long weekend looking more promising weather wise smile

A gusty change has blown through here in the last little while after working its way Northwards up the coast during the morning.

Yeh, the radar and sat pics gave pretty good evidence of the low crossing over Sydney a short time ago. Rain looks set in for a couple or hours with some heavy falls around the basin, but there'll be a rapid clearing this afternoon, now evident heading towards Goulburn/Ulladulla.
Wind has just become very strong here - maybe gusts of up to 50-60 km/h. Temp dropping too.

There is a lagging cold pool currently located near Goulburn that is moving NE where the rain is/was. You could see that cold pool moving from the west in the Riverina yesterday. Unfortunately a very weak cold pool with 500mb temp only slightly under -20 which for this time of year is very weak, but with enough moisture to give the rain anyway.

44.4mm here so far with a few skerics to go, not that I needed that anyway but does not go astray given the generally light rainfalls lately.

It's hammering down here, all I can hear is the roaring on the roof from the rain. Nice day t0 staying in and do nothing.

The good stuff has just arrived here, pressure is down to 986.4hpa, wind is getting pretty nasty. I notice that a Severe Weather Warning has been put out for Gale force winds along a decent part of the coast.

Pressure has dropped another hpa in the last couple of minutes!

The cooler air has hit here - temp has dropped 0.7c to 7.8c in 15 minutes
29mm here since midnight
this might have been a sleet or snow day in a cooler weather regime

8.0c at Moss Vale & 7.8c at Braidwood - both below 700m. So some further cooling to come before the rain band clears to the north.

You certainly got the best of it Duane, and you needed it, I see the Riverina also got the best totals in NSW for May as well as June now.
Send that sun up this way faster, I was hoping for a sunny afternoon at least.

Will the winds Along the coastal fringe decrease as the rain areas clear to the NE do you guys think?
