Yeah I have been troppo since 1965 when I first went to PNG as a 9 year old.

I have been assessed by 3 professionals as being nuts, but mostly harmless.

Nice coolish night tonight - had a BBQ and didn't break into a sweat so that proves it must have been pretty damn nice.

Another cool evening and morning and the sloth that is the Dry has descended on us to induce a slumber only to be broken by single digit minimums, the odd fog/mist along Ross River and the remote possibility of some rainage.

Got back from the states on Friday. Seen some pretty awesome stuff, also seen the flip side and devastation that's caused by tornado's.

This has to be the best storm I have seen structure wise, it was reported producing baseball size hail.

Thanks guys.

Of course it's real, that's the result of 300+ helicities.

It was > < this close to producing a tornado, there were reports of a brief funnel. Dick and Reed were surprised how it didn't produce a tornado.

Lucinda observations are back. They're on the Hervey Range radar imagery and on the observations page:

http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60801/IDQ60801.94295.shtml

Looks like they restarted at 5:00pm today.

A slight correction/addition to the above. Elders has obs. starting at 1530:

http://www.eldersweather.com.au/obshist.jsp?lt=site&lc=32141

It's the first observations I've seen from this site since Yasi.

Another nice night for sleeping in. Cool is starting to get into my joints though and the first cold related twinges of Uncle Arthritis have started in earnest. Just as well my wife makes wheat packs.

I need to find something I can clean out my Nylex rain gauge with. I have the start of some mould growing in the bottom which will be starting to throw off my totals. I thought straight bleach might be the answer but my wife thinks I should just put it in the dish washer. Might have to go off to Bunning's to buy a replacement of she does that and it screws it up.

Great to see they've finally restored that weather station. Strange how it took 2 and a half years to get it running again. I assume they mustn't have had the required funding to replace the weather station?

Meanwhile, a pleasant 14 degrees recorded here this morning!
