Plenty of interesting puffies heading skywards around my west and north. Quite an interesting sky for this time of year. Don't expect any precip but you never know. Late yesterday arvo there was a distinct shower to be seen to my south, it looked quite heavy.

Looks like Holsworthy scored another rather cold morning - minus 46.3. Or possibly the thermometer is malfunctioning again.

Reasonably sunny here today after a chilly start. The cloud has stayed mostly to the East. Haven't seen any rain.

I note that Observatory Hill is the 'hotspot' again at 17.6.

Nah, I'm guessing thousands have died today.

Nice heavy shower passing through here now with a fair bit of pea sized hail.

There were a couple of waterspouts of Port Stephens this arvo and as usual by the time i got to the beach to take pics, they had disappeared. Got a little bit of footage whist driving to the beach, but it is crap!!

Good frost here this morning, a good -4 or so with a very solid fog as well. Very sunny here unlike my coastal neighbours just over the hill. smile

I took a drive most of the way up Mt Franklin Road this afternoon ( https://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=mt+franklin+road&hl=en&ll=-35.519915,148.770998&spn=0.020888,0.046756&sll=-32.010396,135.119128&sspn=137.765794,23.027344&t=h&hnear=Mt+Franklin+Rd&z=16 ) and from above about 1300m it was snowing.

This photo was taken around 5.15pm this afternoon, I stuck around until about 5.30 when it was absolutely puking down. In the 45 minutes I hung around I'd guess there was 3-4cm extra.

The in car thermometer was reading 0c the whole time.

Looked nice, but pretty short lived.

Next Wednesday is showing 850's about 11-12deg and a NW wind on the coast ahead of that front of sorts end next week. Only thing that could stop temps well into the low 20's on the coast is the tropical low off the North Coast which EC still keeps closer stopping the NW wind near Sydney.

Month still tracking as one of the warmest Junes on record up here, currently +1.5 above mean, that is unlikely to go down, may even go back up.

This next trough/ECL could be the one to deliver some decent falls in your area Stormy, looking like this one will be further north.

Chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the Sydney forecast for Saturday now.
Sounds more like a summer forecast.
What's doin'?

Very good question, I'm still baffled by Sydney's 7 day forecast, last Sunday it was supposed to be mainly fine today today and tomorrow. Then during the week the mainly fine forecast for Sydney was pushed back to Sunday and Monday.
Now it looks like it won't be mainly fine until middle of next week.
This day and age it's simply not good enough, either get the 7 day forecast more accurately or don't bother forecasting the weather at all smile

I have been watching a developing low in the models for early next week on the North coast of NSW for about the past 3-4 days in the models. But to my dismay models have been slightly more determined about it with almost every day. That is what has now deteriorated the weather until Monday, the cloud cannot be swept away and will just be stuck here in that trough affecting Sydney and north of until Tuesday next week. In fact its now even more widespread in the latest models pushing inland and even some way south of Sydney. Sydney should see a clearing trend from Monday. Maybe that NW cloud that has reached us today has made things worse.

If this was not mentioned in the forecasts its only an oversight because it was in the models. However models are getting more solid on a proper westerly wind developing from Wednesday onwards that will bring warm sunny conditions to the coast at least until next Friday. What happens after depends on the strength of next weeks front end of the week which at this stage looks very weak. But at least a winter westerly should remain established through much of next week.
