yep Ant, that is a possibility of course.
What I also look for in this thing is the wobble in its water and not just a vibration. It is intermittently wobbling atm...sort of like when it picked up on the faint s waves of a recent smaller one in Melbourne's s/e.
Anyways, will check Geosc. later to see if need to chuck out this gadget and get my engineer brother to design another - that one may have more credibility (readings wise) grin

Well nothing has shown up with Geoscience atm, but if there was any movement of a small nature sometimes Geosc. can take up to a couple of days to record it on their site after they have reviewed some of the movements. Will see if my gizmo will be travelling at 80ks in a garbage truck on Monday morning, or spit and polished soon wink

If you want to see what tremors are occurring across Oz (last 30 days) go to Geoscience to see what's been/is happening for us.
If you are following other earthquake maps, such as Global Incident Map - quakes many of our tremors aren't showing up there.
Cheers all wink

Just another wee note on something I have been watching, regarding Innamincka in South Australia (not far from the QLD/NSW border) - they have been experiencing 30 tremors (to date - last 30 days) ranging from a shade under M3 to an M4 (depth ranging from 0kms to 18kms).
This some quite consistent rumbling.

....picking up on some faint ground movement here (with my gizmo)...will see if anything is registered with Geoscience today....or if it is a subtle byproduct of a tremor somewhere else?

Ok...you'll probably think I've gone a bit on the loopy side? But did anyone else observe the cloud formations over Melbourne today? Rippled, waved clouds for as far as they can see, in all sorts of formations. And..I saw a horizontal 'rainbow' yesterday too..just a wee observation..maybe nothing.
And, no...I haven't put this post in the wrong thread smile I'm not thinking of the weather here...
wink

There's just been a significant quake off northeast Japan with preliminary magnitude of 7.5 and depth of 36km. The Japan Met Agency has issued a tsunami warning for the local area at time of writing this. JRC tsunami model output so far (it's still running):

Good news that no-one was killed or seriously injured.

Judging from the news reports, it looked like the authorities handled it really well.

Check out these "LISS" (Live Internet Seismic Server) charts crazy
There are a few regarding some regions in Australia too.
Some of them are very active (understatement).

I would say that shake last night in Darwin was the best we have felt. Lasted a good 90 seconds. Had a few scrambling onto the street in the wee hours lol

...I was waiting to see if anyone from NT was going to comment on the shakes they felt...
Would have been quite unnerving, wondering where it was centred and the end result of it.
Cheers, Duck.

Yeah it was definately a good shake that's for sure. Enough to have the wardrobe doors shaking and the dishes in the sink making a racket.
Centred in the usual spot, generally feel anything over about M5.5 here but not to the extent of this morning's tremor.

Holy crap...it appears the entire US is having a major shake up according to this live feed.

That is very curious...will see if this is a glitch or if anything that hasn't come up on the live feeds yet...hope this is a glitch...
There have been many sinkholes developing; smoke plumes cropping up; many ground rattles; booming noises (even some sounds of explosions) being reported in greater frequency by the folks in the regions I talk about on my blog - meaning the regions sweeping from the west, down on the lower regions of the U.S., sweeping through to the eastern regions, and somewhat 'curving' back up to as far as Maine.
The waterway/lakes near Michigan (for example) have been experiencing gas/bubbling too...
There seems to be some serious activity cropping up in various places, which is not being mentioned much in mainstream media.

Check out the above link, this has gone berserk too. I am hazarding a guess at this stage that this may be a glitch...???

Sorry to hog the thread here blush but I meant to mention earlier too that it is possible that the Heliplots may have been 'reacting' to the large quake earlier in the Banda Sea. Would need to double check this - but it does appear that they all 'went off' at the same time, coinciding with Banda???

Maybe the US did another deep nuclear test like the one in Nevada this week. Gotta make sure they'll still work even after long term storage, after all...

Theres nothing is happening at the moment here in the US. Being in Utah, as close to Toledo station, theres nothing felt or observed here at all. Media here hasn't got any report of this shake up. This probably seems fake, in accordance to make the 'end of the world' stuff looked legit.
