Yep more than sad. This is my favourite place [and only forum I am a member of] for the EQ and other stuff.

It's disgusting but atypical of Fairfax - surprised it didn't happen when they first acquired ownership tbh.

Not surprising in the greater scheme of things, politically.

I'll miss the forum. Especially since I was on track to getting some of my EQ mojo back... frown

Some good leg work by Adaminaby Angler has led to the welcome mat being put out for WZoners over at cdweather.boards.net see welcome here
http://cdweather.boards.net/thread/2055/new-weatherzone-members

The site itself has a General Science section that quake people could find a home in. Or I guess a new subsection could be started in the weatherzone section set up on CD weather which currently has just a NSW day to day weather thread http://cdweather.boards.net/board/20/weatherzone

People over here pondering the possibility of a new forum.

Thanks, sounds like it might be a good place, but I can't even take a look without registering first. frown I understand why they might do that, but I've got a book full of registrations I barely use. I don't want to add to it if the forum isn't suitable for me.

Rego pretty smooth Cold@28. Zoners using pretty much their own user names as far as I can tell ( I did). Kind of the reverse of this site. Large world section and small minnow Australia I think. But the mod rules sound pretty fair. It is pretty active. The Australian weather forums site mentioned as an alternative looks pretty musty and not much activity. But I guess that would change with mass WZ migration.

That's good to know. Makes sense for the earthquakers to migrate there.

The best part of the WZ forums, for me, were the local/regional sections, and being able to talk about cyclones as they were happening. As for international weather I'm only interested in a general overall sense, and whether it might affect Australia.

thanks Knot - I'll have a look.

Just a note - an interesting M5+ just south of Australia [way south of Esperance] at 0km depth - near some undersea mounds...very early this morning.
And, there is still quite a run of tremors in various places on Oz atm.. Another M4 could be brewing somewhere.

For now, Duck.

Hopefully you pop up somewhere on the net that has something analogous to this thread Duck. Be a shame not read your inputs somewhere as this forum burns out like a dying sun and goes blank come nov 1st.

Nawww...that's very kind of you Knot smile

Had a look at 'cd' and may also just put a link on here to my photography [amateur] page on FB, where I would put info on a link perhaps regurgitating my old EQ blog or something else. I find this forum so easy to 'chat' on, but I know nothing is forever unfortunately here.

I'll add the link to one of my FB pages here - Duck's images

I have had so much enjoyment gabbling on in this thread and 'met' so many wonderful folks. It is a real community here and it is a shame that it will be no more. I have learnt from others and I hopefully other folks have liked the stuff I have rattled on about. I will try to keep up acknowledging the EQ happenings in this thread till the 29th July.....hopefully [wishful thinking perhaps] WZ will reverse its decision in ending the forums........

For now, Duck.

Yes I too, have found these forums so easy to chat on, and have learned an untold amount.

As for reversing the decision to end the forums, it's owned by Fairfax, I hadn't known that, so I guess we are lucky it lasted as long as it did.

Yep, bit of a shock. 25 days notice only, not a reasonable time at all, and I see it as a complete lack of respect for the knowledge contained here. But it's owned by Fairfax...
There's some discussion about starting a new forum, over in the FNQ Dry Season thread
http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthrea...aso#Post1501843

Come over and join us there, more minds... Let's see what we can come up with, in just on 3 weeks.
