Thank you. I really enjoyed our northern forums posts. I hope we can get something going. I imagine building a new forum is quite a task, and think that something like yahoo groups would at least work to keep us all in touch til we got something established. I've been a member for over 10 years of Freecycle which works that way, although nobody seems to be active any more.

Thankyou tsunami.

I have popped over to "cd" and am thinking of also starting a facebook page for my EQ rattling on posts. I am still looking also at another site - The Australian Weather Forum - if they decide they would also like an EQ/tsunami/volcano thread to add to their current sections, that would be good. If I do create a facebook page for my EQ stuff, I will post a link in this thread before it ends this month. I am not on twitter, so I won't be found there.
I can't thank enough all of the support, collaboration and friendships I have discovered here on WZ EQ thread. What a fantastic bunch you all are. I have truly felt the community spirit and sharing of ideas and info abounding here and am going to miss it tremendously.
I will still try to post here till it hits the brick wall on the 29th. But I am not going to disappear - just gonna get creative somewhere else.
Bless you all xx Duck.

Hi there Quakers. I'm jonny on the spot today. In los Angeles and felt a rumble this morning. All the folks at the hotel have been talking about it. Was 100 miles away but a decent shaker it would've even closer to its epicentre. 6.4 they saying. How good.

Seems to be some concern that the California quake was a foreshock. Some are going out to stock up with supplies
One comment is LAPD have said expect further quakes possibly bigger. Seems odd they would say that without good info. Would be a good way to scare people

Hi folks.

BIG T, I am a little surprised that you didn't feel a really good rattle from that larger quake where you are. M6+ is a decent size and at 10km deep, the energy from that would have thrown out a good spread off effect. Though, the terrain there may have dulled some of the movements felt in some places.

Whether it is a fore-shock or not only time will tell. I am tending to feel that the M6+ was possibly the largest one they will feel there. After movements may range up to M5+ [an extra one?] with plenty of smaller after movements felt. The energy from that larger quake may migrate to another location north or south'ish, or maybe even west'ish of it though.

A little while ago [about just over a week ago?] I mentioned that I was 'watching' the west side of the U.S. and that Cascadia may feel an M5'ish as well. Both regions have confirmed my anticipation of good movements there.

For now, Duck.

Okey dokey folks.

I have added a link to my old EQ blog below. I am currently revamping this blog, which I thought I had deleted some years ago. Well I discovered that it is still live and have decided to fix it up a bit. I have added a new revolving world map/globe and will change a few other small details. Anyway, until I make up my find finally as to where I will go beyond the end of this forum, I am gonna play around with my blog. I think I have changed the settings to 'you' being able to comment on posts without having to sign into Google. I hope you will pop over to the blog for a sticky-beak or chat sometime.

my EQ blog

In the meantime, I will still add some posts here smile

Cheers, Duck

Hi duck, yeah the main one was about 10.30 am , was a couple of smooth rolling type waves moving thru under the feet. Really not too bad at all. We also felt another about five hrs later, whilst in hotel room getting ready to go to the baseball at dodgers stadium. It was just a sudden wobble for a second or so. The type that makes you wonder for a second if you are having a dizzy spell. It came up as an m4 after shock.

Really? Forum closing? That sucks.

Perhaps Duckweather might like to moderate a FB page, and we'll all migrate there?

So, tonight I am wondering if the sonic boom reported from tonights meteorite over southern Australia registered on any seismos. Daleh web page appears to have been deleted.

Yep perrywinkle - the forums are shutting down on the 29th July. So, so disappointing.

Re: me moderating a FB page, I have thought about setting up an EQ related page on FB - may still do. I have, for the time being, revisited my old blog - Sentir La Terre - EQ's and other stuff and started to revamp it. I was very thorough in the early days of this blog with my perspectives on future tremors and other ones, and let it die out a bit when I became that poster that rattled on in this thread on WZ. A Facebook page may be a good idea though smile

I think our seismo's in Vic registered a small spike around the time of the meteorite tonight. the 'rock' was a pretty green cool There is a video on FB on the Victorian Storm Chasers page.

Cheers, Duck.

Another aftershock here early today, hotel folk talking about , but I Didnít feel this one for some reason. Local authorities still talking up the chance of a similar shock to the initial one, but the odds are dwindling as time passes. Iím with you duck, I think the m6.4 was the main event, wifey certainly hoping so, has been a bit on edge since the start of it. Seen too many movies.
