Looking like the next change could bring quite a bit more in the way of rain across our region late Thursday / early Friday, particularly across NE NSW. First decent rain in a long time if it comes off :-)

A tad cooler today - not that I'm complaining.
It reached 25.3C here at 12:46.

Yeah Bello Boy, recent runs of EC have been keen on a strong mid/upper trough sweeping across together with a surface change and reasonable instability just inland of the coast overnight Thu into early Fri. GFS less keen.

There's also been a bit of a temporary wet signal for southern parts of our region later this month - images below:

Some building cloud on the coast, sounding at 10am suggests some dry air above in the mid levels.Wonder if there will be any showers around later?

Long way out but extended GFS is indicating an ECL with significant rainfall towards the end of October.

Not normally anything to pay attention to but given a long dry winter I'll take anything I can get at the moment.

Wouldn't surprise me Locke, something always seems to happen around Rodeo time! At least it seems like systems are progressing now as opposed to having a blocking high in control.

This Thurs.-Fri and next Tues look like 3 days to keep an eye on in our our area. At least something to finally watch and look forward to along with the possible ECL at the end of the month as you mentioned. Things are looking up!

Probably won't get any rainfall til overnight or early Fri morning here locally. There's actually a new thread that Seabreeze set up for that here:

Hopefully there might be abit more of that wet stuff from mid week towards the weekend.

A fair way out, GFs, and Access G showing possible showery activity.

Yeah Steve, various ensembles are still sticking to their guns for a wet signal towards the end of this month (from later next week) for parts of SE QLD/eastern NSW. Bit too early to tell exact locations/amounts though.

Here's a probability of precip graph for the Brisbane area for the next 16 days:

Nice Steve.

Looks like groundhog week with yet another round of NW'lies by midweek (max temps possibly approaching mid 30's in places) with SW'lies trying to push through to the coast followed by a coastal SSE'ly change by Thursday... and some instability ahead of it. EC currently suggests the mid/upper forcing might be somewhat weaker than what we had on Fri and the mids don't look as cold. Still early days though. Also some hints of further instability towards the end of this month/early next month. Output from my script:

GFS is liking the idea of storm action riding the southerly up into SEQ, with some decent precipitation. However, it doesn't really like like a strong set-up.

Stunning MB! Are you going to take it corepunching any supercells this season? poke

Re the wet signal that ensembles have been suggesting for late this month/early next month for some time now, the better falls still look like being around NE NSW and southern parts of eastern NSW but SE QLD still has a chance of seeing at least a taste of it, if not more. Also still looks on track for instability to increase during this period with N'lies setting up over us by mid next week followed by a cooler SE'ly change. Here's the latest output from my probability of total precip > 25mm from next Sun to the 4th Nov: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7386/10410484626_d7a276b613_z.jpg

Hi Ken - it was obtained for storms and we haven't had any! Maybe I should send it back to get the season going smile

Thanks for the charts and forecasts you continue to post - much appreciated.
regards, Michael
