Surely the racecourse gauge is under reading?

Wow TSV did really really well. Good on them.

I scored 19 mm here in Kewarra, but with the really heavy downpours over night I expected more TBH.

So is the racecourse gauge the official Cairns gauge other than the Airport? I think its on the WZ app for Android you can flick between other local stations including Cairns, Cairns AP, Mareeba and Low Isles. So the Cairns one is at the racecourse? If so, that does look like a serious under-estimate in other parts of the south scored more...

So will there be more today? Will it come in from the sea?

Looks to be washing out locally now. Lets hope we can add to our totals a bit more overnight. Yeah Things. I have a pleasant temperature of 22.2 at the moment with a nice cool breeze coming through. smile

That's a huge difference in totals from the Racecourse and Airport. Be interesting to see what some of the south-side forum members totals will be.

the nature of storm activity, its all hit and miss, Townsville airport had 105mm, im 3km away and had 38mm. most of tsv southern and western burbs missed out and didn't get a drop.

Yesterday was interesting tho, it started off with small storm cells moving East from across the tablelands, then a few hours later they completely shifted directions and started coming in from the West. More would be nice, but I'm happy with 45mm. No watering for a few days grin

Depends n the movement of the trough which is still pushing up the coast.

Check out the radar, the showers are moving away from every possible direction from Cairns. The forcefield was clearly re-activated this morning grin

Excellent falls YS. We had 29mm here and I am probably less than two k's from the racecourse which is why I am a bi suspect on the total for there. Maybe it was just unlucky!

Me too CF, I want to know exactly where it is. It could be by a rain shadow if near trees or a tall building. Govt workers (I assume placed it)... you never know the quality of work grin

A few small cells heading toward the forcefield from the south east. Seem to be building a bit.... But the forcefield has killed off bigger than these before.

Something to watch. The trough is still here so there's a chance of a wet night Mr Dolphin. It's good to see some falls around the tablelands and out to the west. Hopefully it gets some grass up in some of those areas that need it.

Nice pic's Trav. Come and see the Barron falls in the Wet Season mate. Gives you a good appreciation of the power of water. Nice shower activity heading our way. Lets hope it can make it over the range. grin
