Doesn't look like much on the radar but it's good entertainment!

Edit - Now starting to spit ever-so-slightly

Surprised the WZ lightning detector isn't picking anything up.

If it's in-cloud (a.k.a. intra-cloud) lightning, then it won't be picked up on the tracker.
The tracker *should* pick up the majority of cloud-to-ground strikes and cloud-to-cloud lightning though.

I hate it when that happens, all nice and solid on the radar and then it fizzles and fades on the range. Some nice flash and rumble and then....
I know how Homer feels...WHY YOU LITTLE frown , a few sprinkles out here just as I'm typing with some nice rumbles but it would of been great out between Dimbulah, Mareeba way earlier.

Few cells starting to pop up over the ranges. Pretty muggy at the moment.

Raining lightly here at present, enough to make it ever more humid and steamy. 1.5mm overnight

The rain band coming in from the west has made it past the 50km line so has a reasonable chance of making it over the range. .... Maybe.

At least we didn't chase torrential drizzle all over the country side and waste the day taking dud photos . We nearly went up the tablelands earlier today but the signs were there early on it wouldn't fire up.

We'll get our rain this summer. Darwin and surrounds are having a cracker start. Noonamah ,sth est of Darwin picked up 35mm this evening.

If anyone's doing the Christmas lights tour this year most of the top of Mayflower St got involved in Edmonton and it looks fantastic. Well worth a look and tastefully done. Take the camera.

A remainder that the geminids meteor show is on from now until sunrise ,weather (cloud cover) permitting.

The high cloud is clearing from the west but there is still some onshore rubbish around. We may get lucky to have a decent glimpse in a few hours time.

In reference to the Darwin stuff, be worth keeping an eye on the Humpty Doo gauge when it gets manually updated tomorrow morning from this afternoons storms, should go close to 100mm. Orebound will provide a bit more info on our walkabout this afternoon soon poke
