At least a string of decent days where it gets beyond 30C with no wind.. this is just annoying Meteye has 40-50kmh sea breezes every day before that change comes through saturday

Gale force NE'er pretty much describes it

Yes, a very good, pretty wind map you found ColdFront.

The ABC, meanwhile, offers a very grim outlook.

That is now in the monthly summaries as yet another dodgy reading in the official BoM records.

So, because we have a few heatwaves a year, we shouldn't be proud of our country? I've heard it all now.
Look mate, as I've stated a gazillion times, I hate the heat as much as you, which is why my summer holidays are spent in the Australian Alps, 1000 mtrs above sea level. To escape it.
But to jump on a public forum and cry like a baby about every heat wave is a pointless exercise.
Dave M said it best. We should just deal with it the best way we can. Which is what I do, and is hard while working on building sites for a living. But it's what I do. I have to deal with it.
Your whinging has become boring.
BTW, I'm proud of this country, even if it's too hot for some......

The weather's going to do whatever it's going to do. We need to accept it and hopefully enjoy it.

While it hasn't be hot so far this Summer in Sydney, with max and min temps now tracking close to average after a cool start, it's been dry and very sunny. After a wet November, I'm enjoying that. It looks very hot in the next few days away from the coast, although it's South-Easterly weather for Christmas by the look of it. Those who do the cooking (not me) want it to be cool, but hopefully not the sort of weather that keeps everyone indoors.

A pretty sunset this evening after a sunny, humid, breezy day. The sea gales have now dropped off early tonight.

Canberra's Weather: talks about weather on a weather forum.
Homer: whinges about what other people write.

Ever thought about actually contributing, buddy? How about talking more about actual weather, and less about what others are saying?

And in rides the knight in shining armour.
What's this got to do with you?
I talk plenty about the weather, but when one poster hijacks threads every time there is a little heat (even in winter - lol), people have a right to comment.
OMG, it's going to be 41 in western Sydney tomorrow.
The world is coming to an end.

I'm actually looking forward to the heat tomorrow now. I finished work for the year today, and I'm taking the kids to the beach. Bronte will be sparkling, the water refreshing, and I like the talk in the heat thread about possible storms. Then, I can't wait to escape the heat and spend a summer holiday in the cool of the Aussie Alps.

Holidays begin today.
Fresh, cool southerly wind blowing.
Solid 8/8 overcast stratus above.
Drizzling rain falling here.

The cloud forecast is solid overcast until late afternoon on Boxing Day.

I'm off to slash my wrists now.

Looks certain now that Sydney will be the coolest capital city this Christmas Day by a whole two degrees!

Come on... who wants to be cooking in a kitchen when it's 40C outside and maybe 30C ambient temperature inside? I know I also usually enjoy pigging out in slightly more mild temperatures than eating while sweating profusely.

I think 25C is perfect for Xmas Day. Wasn't planning a beach trip anyway wink

That rain in the NE quarter of the State (North from about Sydney) has featured on some of the models on this site for a few days, in some cases not related to any obvious MSL chart feature, but it is only this latest forecast that recognises it. Certainly badly timed for Sydney but it does look like delivering some rain where needed.

GFS also seems to be showing heat for the New Year and less than brilliant conditions for the first few days of the Sydney Test - more than enough rain to cause stoppages (i.e. 0.2mm+)

Edited by Steve777 (24/12/2013 17:04)
Edit Reason: Change GFS to 'some of the models on this site'
