Ever thought about actually contributing, buddy? How about talking more about actual weather, and less about what others are saying?

Well said smile about time someone spoke up, have a good Xmas

All the best for Christmas everyone. As Bing Crosby might have sung if he'd lived in Sydney: "I'm dreaming of a wet Christmas...".:

Gotta mention this one, speaking of dreaming……WZ 3 day BoM meteogram for Orange has cumulative rainfall totalling 70mm by Thursday laugh
Wow, would' t we love that. Its so dry out here - more like Cobar than the CT's. Seriously, whatever falls will bring big smiles. Loving that infeed of water vapour from off the Kimberly coast - all we need now are some rainfall triggers.

Anyway, while on the subject of smiles….happy xmas to all!!!!

Sydney putting on it's traditional wet and cold Christmas I see.

Poor buggers planning anything beachy or outside will be annoyed but this is how it can be at this time of the year in Sydney.

Wow, 6.8mm in the official gauge at Orange airport!!!! After such a dry, hot run, this is blessed relief. Not heavy rain, but quiet and steady. Hope it has set in the the day.

Had a very pleasant Christmas with family in spite of the weather. Hope everyone had a great day.

I can't follow the BOM's Sydney forecast for coming days, especially tomorrow with an apparent expectation of persistent cloud and an East Coast low forming North of us and passing East, so solid SE'ers all day, no Westerlies. I think it will struggle to get past 22 anywhere in the Sydney Basin.

Later maxima seem to be overcooked, given weak Northeries (therefore strong sea breezes) and early S-SE changes. It's as if they were forecasting for somewhere 400km to the North:

For the next 7 days:
BOM: 26, 25, 29, 25, 25, 29, 27
S777: 22, 24, 26, 23, 24, 26, 26

8mm so far here, some good soaking rain most of the day.

Sydney to Hobart fleet in for a mixed bag of wind and weather, especially for the tail enders as they approach Tassie.

It looks as if most places on the Central Tablelands have scored 20mm or thereabouts. Great news!

That storm near Nerriga is absolutely giant. Check out that HOOK! Pretty primed conditions down there today.

That is some serious action going on down south, just wondering if something can make it closer to here but the radar is down.
Ended up with 23mm in the last 24 hours which is not to bad at all.

Definitely looking quite explosive down south with cells popping up much closer to the basin. Oh the anticipation !!

Radar down just in time as that cell comes into view. How do they let a multi million $$ radar go down like this repeatedly at most crucial times i don't get it..

Wollongong radar is OK and shows the storms. That cell inland from Nowra looks pretty impressive. It does seem to take a while for the BOM to fix stuff that breaks. The anomemeter at Wattamolla is still out of whack.

Looks like the BOM were right today for Sydney - even undershot a little, with Sydney / Penrith making 26.6 / 29.6. However, the forecast as I remember seemed to say or imply that the cloud would hang around all day, even if the rain cleared. Also, clear sunny days with S-SE winds are unusual on this part of the coast. That huge cloud band streaming across the continent yesterday afternoon just seemed to evaporate overnight apart from a remnant over the NE of the state.

There's already one cell in the Sydney basin. The second one which is much stronger looks to be drifting north.

We have cells ahead of the main system near Liverpool and over the Royal National Park so there is some action in the Basin. Hopefully we see more.
