At least I haven't had to boost the solar hot water so far this summer, no clouds ! .

Feels very humid today but must be an error again with the Yeppoon readings , definitely isn't 100 percent humidity with 30 deg dew point.

Happy New Year everyone. Definitely something amiss with Yeppoon's readings today. I saw earlier it was feeling like 42.8 degrees!! at around 10.30 at 28.5. Good NY joke maybe?

Yeppoon forecast to hit 35 deg this Saturday ! Though they have forecast higher temperatures here quite a bit so far and we have been fortunate not to really go over 30 deg , bar one day.

Saw that too! Must check what the hottest on record has been. I believe it's higher than that.

The mla (meat and livestock aus website) says 38.6 degrees on 12/1/2002. I don't know how far back their records go. I was living near Wreck Point at the time and do recall some VERY hot days!

I Remember some very hot Christmas's at Emu Park. One in the late 90s was 40c with a big North Wester blowing like a furnace Sitting in the shade with sprinkler hoses going.

I had a look at records from Pacific Heights, their temp records go from 1967 to 1987 the highest they had for this month was 39c 4th 1982.

Incidentally Pacific Heights Rain Fall Records go back to 1891.

Like I said before though, at the beginning of this heat they forecast 33 or 34 at the beginning of this heat wave and we only got to 29 deg.

So it will depend on if the NW are strong enough to push out the seabreeze. If they aren't then I am thinking maybe low 30's again.

Oz Forecast has SE winds , showers and 26 deg max 23 min for Y eppoon next Thursday with SE winds from next Wednesday (beginning from there).

Hot, hot, hot, for CQ coast. I certainly hope we don't see those temps again. It does show that we do get them some years, and therefore can be expected.

I now live closer to Pacific Heights and receive about the same rainfall. 1860mm in my gauge for last year.

Hey Vinnie, I noticed we've got 100% humidity again today. That must be a record!

Nah it is something to do with the wet bulb thermometer , it has a water reservoir in it and it keeps drying up. I have reported this but they are taking a long time to fix this .

It was quite smokey this morning, and have just read there have been fires out near Alpha. There are some desperate people waiting for rain. I have just read one lady I know there whole cattle property has been burnt by fires. We sure do have it easy, we worry about our lawns being brown, these guys their whole livelihood is dependant on rain. I just hope and pray that rain comes very soon.

It is unfair. One year we get too much rain the next not enough, some balance would be helpful!

Well it is a land of drought and flooding rains...

Yeppoon already has a NE wind although light , so 33 deg might be a bit hard to reach.

Edit - With a light wind and 30 already, might be right !

Yep looks like the breeze has stopped it rising to 33 so 31 is it I reckon for today and will hover around 30 deg to 29 deg.

Be interesting to see if we get to 35 ? tomorrow. I am thinking no perhaps as ....

Saturday 4 January
Winds
North to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore south of Agnes Waters in the late evening.

South of Agnes Water NW strong.

Happy belated New Year. Scorcher today! I feel for the livestock at the moment. Was listening to an ABC report how stock do quiet well in scorching temps as long as their body can cool down with low night time temps. unfortunately this heat wave has high night time temps so they are really struggling. Our weather is that of extremes.

41.8, what happened to 41, how much hotter will it go? No wonder I'm inside and not moving.
