Warm light to moderate west to SW wind here, high cloud and bush fire smoke blocking out the western mountain range here at times, must be coming across from the Putty area somewhere.Rain on radar, but nothing falling here yet.

Some rain in Sydney's North West, not much but enough need the windscreen wipers. It's cooled right down now, The change passed through the Eastern half of the Sydney Basin between about 3:00 and 4:00 PM but has yet to reach the outer West.

Earlier today in Windsor, the Westerlies got quite strong and gusty at times, raising dust.

Now sitting just above 36 degrees at 1900hrs after cracking 40 around 1500hrs in the border ranges today. Just 29% humidity and a bit of wind about but nothing too wild. A good splash of rain would be really welcome tonight!

Yesterday's heat caught us by surprise a bit. It was forecast to be 30-odd, but the morning was hazy and mild, so the sudden warm-up from lunctime on was a real sleeper. Got to 35.5c in the end, and stayed warm right into the evening, until that cooler inland air reached us.

Yep 35.3C here down in Monash, I think the forecast was only around 30C. Guess that's what happens when Sean Carson disappears for a few days...

Beautiful Summer's day here. Clear with a few fluffy white clouds, a light breeze and about 27 degrees.

After another warm night (Sydney has not dropped below 20 so far this year) it was a cloudy morning on the North Shore with a brisk Southerly. The cloud turned out to be very thin and soon burned away. The wind dropped right off after mid morning and turned around more to the ESE. The breeze is picking up a bit now.

And 27c today, plus that rotten wind! But a really nice cool-down this evening, and it's odd to have it from the west, and not from the east. The cool-down is continuing through the week, and I for one am looking forward to it. The daily heat really slows you down and the jobs are racking up.

Not really.

Cooler westerly run of winds.
It was beautifully cool at Kalkite this morning, and cooler winds are coming.
Where's CW?

Agreed though that the easterlies are wonderful. Had a blast on a couple of evenings this week. It's far better than what I get in Dural. Damned cold on occasions. And that smell of eucalypt you speak of is clearly apparent. And it's moist/damp. I loved it after a day of swimming in the lake.

7.9C this morning and still dropping, bit of a surprise after the last few weeks weather, now a bit of rain for the suffering garden is all we need now..

I think the suffering garden is enjoying the evening cool-downs too... but rain is desperately needed. It seems so early in the summer to have the grass all crunchy. the roos are spending a lot of time on the 'lawn' before the dogs see them off. Going to have to increase the irrigation schedule.

The NW air was amazingly fresh and cool this morning, but quite suddenly it became warm-feeling. I guess the sun gets onto it, warms the land, and the air blowing gets warmed too. Looks like we're in for more of that blowy stuff today. Won't be long before our fire danger ratings creep up to the nasty stuff. What a shame Ken Ring is always wrong, that wet January he was talking about would be perfect about now.

What surprised me more than anything was how dry and dusty the landscape was from Canberra northwards.
South of that though, and more particularly, south of say, Bredbo, the pastures are thick and almost lush, although not green lush.
The snowy mountains area is looking very healthy, a vast contrast to the southern highlands and the ACT.

A warm, dry, windy, partly cloudy day here in the Upper Murray region of Northeast Victoria and Southeast New South Wales. It was quite chilly here in Corryong this morning, about 8C on my thermometer at sunrise, but warmed to about 28C this afternoon, a bit warmer in Albury/Wodonga. The sun was lovely but those westerly/southwesterly winds, when they started up during the afternoon as the cold front moved through, were really strong, coolish, and annoying! And sadly not a single drop of rain; this area is looking horribly dry frown

Thanks for the head's up Homer, at least I know what to expect in the Snowy Mountains and around Canberra. I just hope the NSW South Coast is nice and green smile

Clear here with bush fire smoke blowing in with this moderate W to SW wind that has just blew up,the bush fire smoke must be coming from fires out in the Putty area for smoke to be coming in with a westerly wind,I thought there was going to be a SE flow today with cooler conditions.

Another beautiful day here in the Upper Murray, almost cloud-free skies with much gentler westerlies. Forecast top of about 25C here in Corryong. smile

Having checked BSCH there seems to be very little in the way of storms on the horizon for at least another week for the Northeast Victoria/Southeast NSW/ACT region... but I'd love to be proven wrong frown
