Hello Vanilla !!!
She is absolutely gorgeous & very, very photogenic!
They're awesome when they are kittens - naughty & mischeveous, & hugely funny (& able to get themselves into a whole world of trouble without even trying).

Here's my boy, and the pride of my life, Agape (A-Gar-Pey) Obadiah (AKA Obad, Short stack). He's a 100% pure Crabbet Arabian. Here he's trying to steal my phone, he got bored waiting for the farrier... I'm also having trouble getting a photo on here, so just click on the link.

Obad

Need some info from Cat owners - Just been woken up for the 5th night in a row by our housekitten Mouser. She can be very aggressive and just wondering if this is normal kitten behavior (waking up to the kitten biting my face) Haven't had much experience with cats in the past.

She bites everyone who comes round and it was cute when she was tiny but now she can inflict some serious damage with those claws and teeth. We adopted the kitten from someone who hand reared her after her Mum abandoned her. She can be really nice and give me nose kisses, purrs and sleeps on my lap...but then wake up and try to claw my face like she's forgotten who I am.

Been trying positive reinforcement like I would with a dog but no luck so far.

Cats are nocturnal. The middle of the night is her playtime. Kittens play bite and scratch when young, so she's trying to play. Positive reinforcement tells her you want to play too! I suggest getting a spray bottle of water (eg an ironing spray from the supermarket), and giving her a spray and a very firm, loud "No" when she offends. Then ignore her for a minute of two. If this fails, she needs to spend the night locked out of the bedroom until she grows out of the rough play.

Thanks perrywinks that makes sense. Will have to do a bit more reading on cats.

It's normal, however I discouraged it with my brother's cat as he was far too rough and would draw some serious blood. It sounds rough, but then he bit or scratched someone I would pick him up by the scruff off the neck (also supporting his backside), and hiss and spit in his face. Only had to do it twice, we had a little angel after that. Similar thing with horses, it sounds cruel, but when a horse kicks, you kick the leg they kicked you with. Obad used to cop a slap in the mouth everytime he tried to bite anyone. He has not bitten in half a year now. He also got chased off and away from everyone if he was really bad (I only do it for 5 minutes max though, you need to use that punishment sparingly). I believe in speaking in a language they understand - meaning you punish them in a way their mother, or herd/ pack would for bad behaviour. Obad and I have a good understanding of what I want from him, he knows good behaviour = pats and praise, bad behaviour = pain.

I'm certain you can find a way to solve your problem. Has she been desexed?

Oh wow I have just had the most wonderful afternoon looking through this thread at all the beautiful animals photos you have shared.

Currently my husband and I are without any pets or kids for that matter. We are hoping to get a Labrador puppy shortly and a little kitten so they can grow up together.

However in the meantime word has gotten out amongst the bird life that I am the bird lady, a bird whisperer of sorts and to the humour of my neighbours. It is a weird phenomena at the moment, at any one given time in the afternoon I could have up to 15 birds in our back yard all circulating around, and at times come really close to me while I sit there and whistle back. Magpies to Kookaburras, Finches, Ducks from down the road, Pigeons, Rainbow Lorikeets, African Miners... the list goes on.

It brings me joy and I love to take photos of them, this is one I took three days ago of our little baby willy wagtail. He is the smallest of a clan and so territorial, you should see him doing his grumpy chirp smile

Here are two of our local ducks, I had to waddle after these two to get photos they were quite shy, and by this time had wondered onto our neighbours front lawn.

Yes when I was really little the family got a black Labrador - we called him Linus from Charlie Brown, he lived to the ripe old age of 16. He had an absolutely lovely nature. Mum also bred Siamese cats for a while among a menagerie of other animals so I have never really been without a pet till now frown

it's funny how you think of cats and dogs constantly at war with each other, but this is our 2nd cat/kitten now, and both have got along with our dog just fine. Only ~8 months old in this pic:

Hi folks.
I thought I'd add a couple of pics of my beautiful 5 week old budgies. Their mum and dad are (male) cobalt blue and the female is white. There are 4 babies, but only 3 are pictured in the pics. Haven't got around to uploading a 'family' photo yet.

They are the cutest/prettiest little munchkins....yes, I am biased smile

Cheers, Duck.

This is Edgar the housecat. He had just stolen a defrosting chicken breast before taking this picture - looking pretty happy with himself/satisfied.
