Looks like potentially a wetter January coming according last nights 12Z GFS run.

100mm early next week then potentially a follow up tropical system approaching.

Lets see if this holds up on subsequent runs.

Yes I have been looking in interest as I was getting worried for I had predicted a storm with gusts this period (1st-2nd) on this forum. Yesterday was quite but we did have wind as mentioned and the storms this evening. smile

Here's the link to my post on this forum of my predictions:
http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthrea...k_C#Post1226212

Forecast weather is over the forecast are so I am pretty accurate within the 60 miles I use in my methods of Astrometeorology.

The forecast I had for the 3rd-4th period looks very promising so far. Wait and see!

Myself, Michael Keene and Steve Feral made the >2000km return from NSW for the 30th and 31st event.

While the 30th was a disappointment with development not occurring on the Darling Downs plains, but the jungle eastwards.

The 31st delivered a long lived supercell - almost 4 hours of chasing (and hail) !

Video below shows some great rotation in the latter half of the video - please watch the 1080 version on Youtube ( No ads)

I was guessing he was talking about the urban jungle of Brisbane?

Maybe he is referring to the more mountainous, more heavily treed regions east of the flat plains of the Darling Downs, probably where chasing is more difficult because of the terrain and photos are harder to get due to lots of trees.

Great photos and video by the way, was an amazing storm.

Great photo's and video everyone. I am learning so much through you all, the how when and why about all that is weather. I was bitten by the storm bug when I was about 8 y.o. I have learnt to respect them but still get giddy with excitement.

Great lightning show here last night. Too many quiet beers and a camera that proved too much of a challenge. So we just enjoyed it. Lots of forked lightning. Must of been a great show at Wondai too.

Just trees and mountains - long time enemies of storm chasers.

Earlier the same day at Beaudesert , as the storm was building , thousands of thess beetles came out of the Euc torellianas at the Beaudesert race track, and on the outflow there were again what seemed like thousands of seed heads blowing with the wind. A few bolts and a tiny bit of pea size hail that was very soft, cheers Joe.
