My General SA-VIC-NSW Mean Max Temp Index shows 7 to 9 days ahead of another hot spell heat-wave, but not as strong as last one, then cooling trend(but temps still above average)with max temps reaching back to around near average by mid February and falling further to a little below average generally after that.

For folk 100km inland and more, I think this could be worse.
Could see 10 days in a row above 40c for inland folk, with nights in the low to mid 20s.
Coastal areas will get few cooler days of high 20s to 30s with pulses of the ridge, but this wont get inland.

River land and upper Eyre and all those places looking HOT.
Next 2 weeks gonna be hot i reckon, enjoy today's cooler temps.

Also N Vic looking at over a week of 40c heat, all models pretty much the same and at end of runs still no relief in sight.

Hot summer continues

No heatwave for the LSE unless the pesky rain keeps away but there is a forecasted temp of 37 on friday for Mount Gambier so maybe the heatwave will kick it up a notch after having 2 cool days

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on this and dad and I have had few discussions of this and looking at the maps, looks like the heat is giving me a welcome back to school present, but is normal for that to happen but not over the last few years. Still could see a solid 5-6 Days of 40+ at this stage, don't think there will be any storms, can't really see any in-feed or any trigger to stir them up.

EC is picking up some really nasty days for Adelaide, Friday, Saturday and Sunday could be the nasty days with temps sitting around 42-44, 45 possible for N areas like Roseworthy.

Little if any atm for next 7 days anyway, will see after that.
All tropical moisture with TCs and tropical lows and monsoons north of SA for the moment. Wiff of moisture on Wed/Thurs/Frid across state from NW tropical stuff and weak front, but unlikely to do much at all at this stage anyway imo.

I am going to suggest close to 8 consecutive days over the century mark. A chance the ridge on monday could drop temps back (as per ACCESS) but I'm favouring GFS and EC with high temps to continue to about thursday next week....

Latest Bangor fire map, still burning away in certain areas, the smoke can be seen to the north from Clare, I think it is two weeks now it has been burning. Winds predominantly from the north tomorrow before the change, hopefully it doesn't flare up into Beetaloo Valley but I guess we'll see, a simply massive area has been burned.

Especially southern areas tomorrow will see bad fire conditions, this run of heat is seeming ridiculously long. To have gone from 3-5 degrees below average at the start to well above around the place by the end shows how hot it has been, Adelaide's currently running 2.4 degrees above (max) and still with 4 above av days to add onto that.

From Bom

"Fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds around 30-45 km/h during the morning and early afternoon, ahead of a gusty south to southwesterly change around 25-45 km/h. Winds reaching 50 km/h near the change in the Lower South East district. The change is expected near Ceduna by late morning and Adelaide during the afternoon. Hot to very hot throughout with very dry conditions ahead of the change. Thunderstorms possible over the North West Pastoral.
For Tuesday 28 January:

Catastrophic Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast district:
Lower South East

Extreme Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Murraylands and Upper South East

Severe Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral, West Coast, Flinders, Mid North, Adelaide Metropolitan, Kangaroo Island and Riverland."

Puts the size of the Eden Valley fire into more perspective.... Eden Valley was actually bigger than what Bangor is atm... shocked

Certainly does, although in terms of true surface area given the terrain of the Southern Flinders, the Bangor fire has likely burnt more. The Eden valley burnt its area out in a very rapid fashion though, through all those grassy areas.

22,100 hectares for Bangor, 24,600 for Eden Valley, 83,400 for Billiatt, big numbers.

Just had a clear air squall line pass through , wind NNW turned suddenly to WSW and temp dropped from 39C to 31C with short lived strong dust raising squall..from west. didn't last long, but bit early for a sea breeze? settled now to moderate WSW cloud band still to our SW but not that far away.

Up to 41.3C now. Have to be a chance to get to 42C before the change.

Couple of flare-ups on the Eden Valley fireground as well... don't want that to get back going...

edit: 42.2 now!!

Looks like the Change isn't far off, SSW at Edithburgh, WSW at Minlaton AP. Visible on the Doppler Wind coming up.
