Looking at purchasing a Davis Vantage Vue weather station, upgrade from my existing system which I paid $179 for 4 years age. Has anyone any experience with one of these? Also looking at the 6555IP weatherlink software to go with it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have not have had much experience with Vantage Vues but I have the Davis Vantage Pro 2 plus which is the more expensive version but has almost to all the features that that Vantage Vue, I'd Suggest to get a mounting tripod with it to place the ISS on and that will sit the unit roughly 2m above the ground.
Davis's are great, accurate, and you can calibrate temperature and humidity if you think that it is over reading or under reading by a few points of a degree.
IP software should be easy to set up, all it is really is installing the software onto your PC and configuring it, connecting the data logger to the console and connect it to a free Ethernet port on your internet modem as well as a spare cable.
I myself will be investing in a Vantage Vue for a portable station later so keep an eye out for pictures and updates in any of the SA forums.
P.S out of curiosity, what is your current weather station that you have had for 4 years?

Thanks for your views SC. I think your comments have sealed the deal for me.
Currntly I have a Digitech unit, which has worked very well, except it seems to read 3-4c higher than the actual temp during the day, despite all my efforts to shield the sensor.

The same as the WH 1081 which is one that I have but the Davis is far more accurate.
Defiantly worth investing in a unit, also they require very little maintenance, only to clean out the rain collector cone if some leaves get caught into it and every year or so to unscrew the radiation shield to wash the dust off.

Hey Willitrainagain, I have been using a Vantage Vue weather station for more than 4 years now. I have had a few minor issues but generally the station has been excellent with plenty of weather info and even more when you link to the Davis Weatherlink software. Of course if you have the $$ then a Vantage Pro would be ideal and is certainly on my wish list for the future.
Wireless and seemingly accurate for temp & rainfall when compared with other forms of measurement, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Check out my weather station on the internet @ anero.id.au/katoomba
