These showers have been a bit of a hit and miss affair. Some decent totals in Sydney's West, e.g Bankstown, Campbelltown 30+ MM since 9:00 but many areas including Observatory Hill have just small totals. In fact OH has had only 20mm so far for the whole event.

Right now, an interesting looking narrow chain of showers stretches from Botany Bay to Warragamba apparently moving inland. Most of the metro area and the Gosford area is in a donut hole.

Yeah, copped a heavy downpour in Oatley just now- the first for the event. We were in a real donut hole for most of the day, the good totals that accrued at Bankstown earlier in the day didn't reach here.

It's quite a nice day here now, most low cloud clearing and 24 degrees. I'm assuming low cloud is lingering around Sydney though, given the lower temps

In Sydney it cleared briefly around lunch time but then weather closed in again and persistent, annoying light rain and drizzle was with us all afternoon. Maybe that was the shortest drought on record. In any case it was the first time I'd seen the sun or even patches of blue sky since Wednesday afternoon.

The rain's stopped in the last 20 minutes or so and again there are blue patches showing. This event gave residents on inner Sydney about 25 mm of rain in exchange for four days of sunless gloom. A bad deal.

]We just had morning drizzle and a then dry, cool day. We scored 70mm for this event which is pretty good.

Well I'm in between Sydney and Wollongong so fittingly I had a mix of both cities' weather. Morning drizzle which cleared around Midday with some bright patches (when Bankstown spiked at 25C), then a random moderate shower at 5 PM which was just about the last rain to clear the Basin oddly enough.

About 25 mm for the event here also, missing pretty much all the heavy convergence showers that occurred around the place. I have seen blue sky at various points through the event, because southerly winds tend to break up some of the low cloud as it descends the Woronora Plateau. In Sydney there is much more cloud because the southerlies are straight off Botany Bay. That's why I don't get sick of cloud and drizzle- a completely grey day is pretty rare here.

About 35mm all up here. Excellent stuff. This will now keep us going for a good month or so. Not sure the streams are flowing again yet but will have to see. Days between 25 and 28/9 forecast the coming week with nights 11 - 14 so not bad. smile

I'll admit this March is looking like it will deserve the 'autumn' label at least on the Tablelands, if you define autumn as being significantly cooler than summer. Of course, that's only because Jan and early Feb were ridiculously hot. The difference on the coast is a lot less marked, although 14C at Camden isn't a bad effort.

It's looking less likely that an extended heatwave will develop as well. ACCESS and GFS are toying with heat pulses at the end of their runs ahead of fronts, but no long lasting heat.

Hoping the red line stays well north of me until next summer now. smile

This week is forecast max's that we would normally have expected in Feb but at the moment seem "cool" given the last 3 months.

The big give away here is that nights in 2nd half March will start to get regularly around 10 or just under for here. This week is 11's, 12's, 13's

It dawned sunny and cool-ish in Sydney this morning. Headed up to the Central Coast starting just before 8:00. The further North I went the worse the weather became, with fairly moderate to heavy showers at times on the high parts of the Pacific M1 (formerly F3). At Killarney Vale it's been more of the annoying light rain and drizzle I got yesterday, so my journey apparently necessitated me experiencing another half day at least of grey gloom. It seems to be lifting now. Given that it's 26 in Sydney, it must have stayed reasonably sunny down there.

I've noticed that deciduous trees look like they're turning, a few weeks early for the Coast. It must be the dry Summer.

Back to sunny (for the time being) Sydney soon.

And southern views:

http://webcams.bsch.au.com/bondi_beach.html

Classical marginal shower day on the coast, confined to areas north of the CBD with a bit of residual activity around the Illawarra escarpment. By contrast, it hasn't even looked like raining in the southern suburbs and probably won't until the next major trigger arrives.

Must be sticky down there because it's still very humid here.

Looks like a few heavier showers pushing into more southern parts of the basin.
It's not too bad down here DaveM. A stiff SE'er is taking the edge off the mugginess.

Had 96.4mm in the past 4 days. Very humid here today, humidity 75% Dewpoint 20.1 and temp sitting on 25.
Wind is non existent atm, some rather large and dark clouds floating about close by but the sun is out atm making it quite steamy!!

Second front of showers moving in on the CBD now. The day has deteriorated from a sunny morning with 2/8 cloud cover to an afternoon with 8/8 cloud and showers. The first line looked very heavy to the south over the airport.

I pass two Homer building site pits on my way to work and I bet they're both causing misery for the site manager. And then there's the ice-cream vendors. My God think of the ice-cream vendors!

Interesting how the gloom is less pervasive north of Newcastle as well. The gloom has just made it here, but it's still sunny at Loftus Heights.

Beacon Hill/French's Forest and Belrose would be the wettest and cloudiest area of Sydney on average, with Bankstown or Campbelltown the sunniest. I don't think Penrith and Richmond would be the sunniest due to the cool season fogs, plus the fact that onshore cloud tends to back build over there on lighter wind days.

Living in Beacon Hill I can attest to that at the moment.
