10mm to 9am here at home and 14mm since ...

Got some small hail this afternoon at work at around 2:10pm from a heavy shower. I jumped in my truck to wait it out. It's amazing how quick heavy rain can clear an area out of people poke

Radar image around that time ...

Most areas this week out of both systems would have recorded 35-70mm. 19.2 out of this system, 24 from the last so 43.2 mm total

Hmm blue sky up here, not much on the radar.

LSE usually do well with these systems as they are in the firing line for them.

20mm overnight, 14mm yesterday, 28mm on Tuesday = 62mm for the week, things are rather damp!
Tried out my new Tokina 11-16mm this morning on a approaching shower, first time I've ever been able to fit a whole rainbow in the shot!

Predictably it went past 11.9 just before 9am this morning, but not by much. This is where yesterday stands for lowest May maximums - had this been two days earlier it would have only been behind the 25/4/1938 temperature for an April cold max!

I lost all contact with the virtual world when my 6 year old modem gave up the ghost Friday lunchtime. By Friday evening I had enough contact re-established to keep an eye on the Lofty aws temps during the night, and when I saw it was stable on about 4 degrees with seemingly no intention of dropping any further (in typical Mt Lofty style) I decided that was likely to be the end of the penny section snowwise up there for this system. So I put myself and plans for a summit visit to bed. New modem installed yesterday evening and catching up this morning. I haven't seen on the internet any actual evidence snow fell anywhere in SA, but I guess we'll never know for sure. If it was August and not early May it would surely have been a different story. Very interesting system allround and good to see the rain :-)
I like your photos Lord Gladstone, and rainswept winter scene Paul, and double complete rainbows Headsup - four pots of gold there for the lucky finders!

Now thats bad timimg for your modem to give up on you Unstable. It does however explain your absence from this thread which is right up your ally with the word 'snow' mentioned on ocassion ..yes this augers well for later in the year..... little later and this event could have delivered something special smile

Re Lord Gladstone's comment "Now thats bad timimg for your modem to give up on you Unstable" I'd like to say it was Murphy's Law but actually it was a case of putting off till next week what I should have done yesterday. I had experienced increasing internet dropouts for the previous 3 weeks and could have found the source of the problem and fixed it well before this weather system arrived but didn't. It's a lesson perhaps we can all learn from if we haven't done so already, not only to clean our camera lenses and make sure all batteries are charged, but make sure internet on desktop and mobile devices are working well, and fully funded.
PS a vehicle battery is another item of hardware that can give out in very cold weather if it's getting to the end of its life or the connections are wonky. New ones can be purchased for a similar price as a new desktop modem these days.
