2 strong layers of cloud. Rapidly thickening high layers plus solidly infilling mid level cloud.

Sort of a stormy appearance without the tall cumulus. Zero sunshine for several hours now.

Humidity really getting solid now, mouse stickiness index high.

Clammy skin index even higher. Became VERY obvious over the last half hour.

Feels like showers/rain should not be too far away.

A measly 0.6mm here early this morning from that band of rain that start at about 3:30am here. Skies are slowly clearing from the west now.
I also doubt we will reach our predicted top of 21 as the southerly is coming up the coast pretty early.

Still light rain falling here, should clear in another hour or two, probably about 3-4mm so far.
Here is a mobile pic of this mornings sunrise.

5mms here from morning light rain from West, cleared now to partly cloudy sky with low cumulus clouds moving in from West, light cool westerly winds.Looks like it is going to turn very cold through the weekend, even snow possible on Barrington Tops.

Going to get colder next few days. ACT may struggle to get into double digits Saturday.

I had 9.5mm in the gauge this morning, a very damp fresh morning it was. This'll really kick the foliage along.

A few locally moderate/heavy showers are riding the S/SW'ly change along the Hunter coast.
Bit of a gust front visible on them as they move into Newcastle:

Yeah Seabreeze, some very nice structure sitting offshore atm especially off the coast off Seal Rocks (not showing on radar as yet), suprised there isn't any lightning in them yet.

Actually ended up being a warm afternoon in the end, would'nt be suprised if 24 was recorded somewhere in the Hunter!!

A nice Cb structure developed just off the coast here as well but no lightning and a little bit of convection around here with the southerly, I doubt storms will develop here though.

Forecast for Saturday is now just 15 degrees, this temperature rarely happens even in the middle of winter. Snow could be a feature for quite a lot of areas.

I'd expect that 15C will be 16-17 in reality, and 18-19 for Sydney. Hope I'm wrong though and the change does hold, but I've seen too many changes fade to nothing at the last minute of late.

Hunter forecast still has snow above 1100 m (Barrington Tops), if that does occur it would be one of the more significant early cold changes in recent times. April 28 2008 was the best early system I can remember, extensive snow cover at Shooters Hill out of that one.

I think the temperature will depend on the forecast of "showers" whether that means there are brief showers then lengthy sunny breaks (most likely) or on and off showers along with low cloud all day. Of course the timing of the change will play a big role too.

Northern Tablelands has snow above 1100m, looks like places around Guyra and Ben Lomond, (possibly Walcha too) could see a good dusting. Strange how snow is not at all in the forecast for the ST's and CT's but yet Orange and Oberon are heading for tops of 6 degrees and Guyra 7 degrees
