If anyone is interested wile the sun is out there is a partial eclipse happening at the moment. I managed to get a glimpse through two tinted windows and the left hand 10-15% is blocked out.

The guys on the tablelands should get a better view.

Ended the wet with 1673.4mm rain compared with 1276.8mm last wet. Nearly 400mm up, I am happy with that. Takes the sting out of HF whooping me every month this wet season. wink

Was definitely cooler, temp wise, with my highest temp this year 36.6c compared to 41.9c last year. However what this wet lacked in high temps it made up for with high humidity being much more constant than last.

I am really looking forward to some dry sunny weather. Must admit I did get a little over everything being soaking wet and water logged this year. God help me in a real wet season. grin

Been here nearly 2 years now and still waiting for a decent thunderstorm. crazy

Don't expect to break that 41.9c any time soon. Last year was exceptional. The airport's highest on record was 40.5c in 1995.

Yeah was definitely a scorcher. Did not expect to experience heat like that living here. Here is a snapshot of my January 2013 records where you can clearly see when Oswald passed south of Cairns and the rain stopped and the hot air rushed in. In 1 week I recorded the wettest day of the year, hottest day of the year, warmest night of the year and coldest day in January and until April 11.

It was certainly hot alright Simmo. Even for a born and bred local like me it was a killer few days.

I got down to 19.6c around 5.30am. Looks like awesome weather coming up over the next few days. Blue sky and sunshine.

I finished up with 1941mm for the wet. Not to bad at all. grin

Loving this sunny, hot and drier weather. It is perfect today. Currently sitting on 32.4c with a DP of 21.9c. Got a tad hot doing the mowing but the pool is so much more refreshing now with the cooler nights. Perfect grin

Edit: Just poured a bev, even more perfect now. wink

You can tell you haven't been in Cairns long. No way I'll be getting back in my pool until October. 👀

Hahaha I already have the blanket on the pool at night so it dosn't loose its temp. Pool currently sitting on 29C. Purchasing a solar blanket was the best thing I ever did. During the middle of winter I leave it on during the day on the days I work. Then on my weekend I take it off in the morning and put it back on at night. Keeps the pool temp between 28c - 30c. Feels like a spa in winter. wink

Haha CF....Just about need a wet suit to get into the pool now..lol wink

Stunning weather at the moment. Heading out to the reef on the weekend. Should be a perfect weather.

Plenty of Harley's in town at the moment. Everywhere I went with work today I could here the roaring around. Be pretty noisy on Sunday when they roar up the Captain Cook Highway early Morning. Be pretty good to go and see.

we passed plenty of them today in Innisfail and coming home from Innis.

you can always spot the tourist swimming in a pool in the middle of winter. grin or all the locals have jumpers and the tourists shorts and t-shirts.

Beat me to it CF. smile

I got mine from Clark Rubber. Cost about $250 from them. Came in one big piece and I just cut to size and shape. I didn't bother getting the roller, they cost heaps, just have mine in 2 sections so it is easier to remove and put on.

They also save you money on chemicals and water as they don't evaporate when the cover is on.

Waking to a cool crisp 17 degrees in the mornings the last few days.
Didn't bother recording the rain this Wet, as we hardly got any worth recording.
No decent storms except a violent mini tornado in January which I missed.
Didn't even get a breeze out of TC Ita, although we got our only serious good wetting rain that went straight into the ground, for 3 or 4 days. God it was lovely.
I'll leave getting a weather station until next season.
