Fair enough Blair. By the way the Lake Maquarie site is not really Central Coast. Its at Cooranbong . If you were to say use weatherzone postcode for Swansea ie 2281 you get the Bong weather which is not Swansea weather. Overnight temps at Bong are colder as bong is inland and near Watagans. Day temps are usually warmer if sea beeeze a factor in temp. Swansea gets sea breeze and Bong doesnt. Anyway Norah and Nobby's stations are both on exposed headlands around 60km as crow flys apart. I just can't see why Norah so much warmer than Nobbys early this morning when both stations got sub 10 under cloud cover early morning on 18th. I spoke on phone with Norah resident and he agreed that this morning at 6 am was as cold as Wednesday morning at least. Go figure

Make that about 45km as crow flies between Nobby and Norah. Around 60kms by coastal roads. Nobby and Norah. Didnt they run a fish shop or something. Maybe a pub

Damn N' Easter sea breeze coming off water. Sea Breeze. Nearly Solstice. I give up. Next week may bring relief from this mush but a string of warm ones till then coming up. Gee all I want is to actually go to bed with some jammies on. That too much to ask. Sheeesh

Felt quite warm today, with warm Northerlies in the morning then that seabreeze came through as WJ said. Like since when does a moderate seabreeze come through at 12pm and actually make it noticeably cooler. I mean we hit 19 degrees and Moss Vale almost hit 16, which means we could have easily reached 21-22 degrees here under W/NW winds.

One reason Norah is so much warmer overnight than Nobbys in certain conditions is that Norah is quite a bit higher above sea level than Nobbys and the surface inversion can be very strong in the right conditions.

Also I was a Bureau field officer when Norah had a manual station as well as the AWS. On one occasion when I was there, there was a 1.5deg difference between the AWS and the manual screen at the same time. The manual station was only 50 metres apart. On that occasion the sea breeze was in at the AWS and hadn't reached the manual screen 50 metres further inland.

No seabreeze here today, was a cracking day here, top temp of 21 degrees, no wind.
Went to Raymond Terrace this morning and encounted some nice decent fog on my travels there, left RT about midday and there was the odd patch of fog still about.

I think Nobbys Station twice the height of Norah. Anyway I take your point about inversions and stuff. I'm just ya average Joe and call it how I see it. Not always on the money of course.

Looking fwd to next week to some wind and cold. Hoping winter breaks out.

Wind Junkie, you are right about the height of Nobbys. I was thinking the temps were down near the walkway where the wind is measured, the temps are up the top near the signal station. Nobbys is a split site.

Good thing we aren't talking length instead of height. Oo la la. Gotta crack up.

As to weather. Was def warmer last nite. No jammies again but I did regale myself in a beenie for part of the night as a try out for next week. Be great to get a blast of S'Wester in the chops and put a jumper on which I have done once since early May. Have put a rain jacket on a few times when fishing but no jumper. Have had a jumper draped on a chair since I moved house several weeks ago but only once as mentioned have i put it on for outside. Quite incredible really.

We just had a very light rain shower, cloud base was mammatus though!! quite a surprise.

WW, I could see that shower of yours pass to my SW.

Winter will arrive fairly nicely (especially inland) during next week. Couple or 3 pulses of colder air through the south of the state. Possibility of a change NEXT weekend that may push colder air much further north. smile

Actually a good shower coming through here now. It's darker to my west, so Orange would have had similar (or better).

May be a wetter day than I expected.

Almost looks like could be a shower here soon. Temp round 18. Wind may go NE soon and if that happens forecast temp prob won't happen.

Shower here also. Moderate rain, enough to get everything wet and will drop the temperature too. Looks like it's heavier to the north of here.

We've had a couple of light showers here with a pretty double rainbow in between:

Heavyish shower out of NW. Temp was around 21.5 a moment ago.Feels like an arvo summer shower. This weather is truly out of whack.

Some Thunder about.

Almost an "August westerly" feel to the NW wind today, streaming moisture laden "Canberra" clouds at 4500' and a current temperature of 15.
At least it cleared those persistent fogs.I like those winds, there is energy in the system.

With the Solstice tomorrow at 9pm the days will start to stretch.
