Just looking at the sat loop and radar with that low moving this way. What's the chances of a shower or even a rumble later tonight?

Yeah Eddy, the sun goes down quite early as we are about 3-4km from the summit of the escarpment where the sun went down that ranges from 450 to 550m. Many far northern suburbs have the sun go down as early at around 3:30pm at this time of year.

And Marts I think it could be possible for at least a shower or even an offshore lighting show smile In fact a look outside revealed some fairly convective cumulus so hopefully something eventuates out of it, although I doubt it.

Phone camera inadequate for very nuanced sky. Dont think any storm a possibility now.

Look's like the radar is showing some activity moving into the basin. Could the odd drop of rain a little later.
Reading 14.9 outside atm.

Thanks Rp, that would drive me nuts the sun going into hiding like that.
Yeah that storm that went through Forster did look impressive as I mentioned before, think of that pic I took yesterday and double that in height is what I could see from here.
I have seen plenty of pics and videos on FB.

I just popped across the road to pick up a couple of things from the local IGA.
Couldn't believe how cold it was.
Took the portable thermometer out and it was 9.2 C.
Nice temp.

Ordinarily, no. Not even close.
But after such a warm day in Sydney, I was surprised it had dropped so rapidly after being indoors for most of the afternoon. It was an off the cuff comment after I'd be in the office for several hours and unaware of the calm of the night.

Please don't forget that -

1. I have a holiday house at 930 mtrs above sea level. I'm used to sudden temperature drops and......
2. I prefer cold than hot.

Anyway, no offence intended. The colder, the more I love it!

I'm more curious about what the Canberra radar has been doing this afternoon and this evening.
Some very stationary showers this afternoon, and then some westerly directional showers tonight.
Seems to be going against the predictions and forecasts if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, very strange indeed. And looking at the archive radar it appears in the last hour that the area has been affected by a S/SE change as the showers are now moving westwards. But the observations tell a different story...

So I wonder what is causing it?

Old Sol now 45 minutes into the long journey southwards again and the daylight begins to lengthen. But you'd never even think it was a winter evening here. Around 14 now. The lake is glassy and so still. Who'll take bets winter is a gonner and spring is coming soon. Talk of some colder temps next week but I reckon sub trop jet rain on parade north of the vic border.

I believe winter is just beginning, it's just a very late start.

Was thinking the same thing homer, Its like bom or the auto forecaster is almost guessing the weather from yesterday till tuesday before that cold front in WA comes through?
Im leaving all my options open for tomorrow, will probably be sunny most of the day but some coastal storms at some point of the wouldnt suprise me.
But To have a 5% chance of rain tomorrow i dont think they have looked into much at all.
