First time this year iv had to rug up immediately after getting out of bed, Not a huge fan of winter (not including ECL'S) But its a nice change I gotta say, Not a cloud in the sky!
quiet breezy but nothing abnormal the only damage here today would be for the leftover autumn leaves clinging on from summer oh I mean autumn Haha.
Currently 14.2, Feels like 11.3
Enjoy your day smile

Heaps of snow along the Brindies this morning (well the bits I saw that were not covered in cloud). Some of the hills around Tuggeranong even had slight dusting so i would say it got down to around 800m or so. I so wish I was not at work today with so much snow around the traps. I might hopefully go for a drive up to Corin for a looksy before dark to get a few pics. That's assuming they haven't locked the damn gate like they usually do when ever it snows.

Well, the temp started at 4.8 here this morning and is 4.4 now, half of our predicted max. The Brindies will look good after this clears.

Be good if the temp dropped a few more degrees and we got some flurries down here. I still don't think thats impossible as isn't the coldest air still behind the Low down in Vic? Winds are still from the NW, if they swing more Westerly maybe it might drop a bit more.

I saw somewhere else that Ant had some icy sleety stuff overnight, no real snow I don't think. Have not heard anything since. PS Ant is actually female. smile

Wow that's embarrassing! Sorry ant! smile

Just watching the temperature drop slowly in Cooma, which is at around 800m asl. Gotta be getting some sleet / flurries there now at 1.5 degrees.

smile Ant's gender was not specifically noted anywhere, but after a while of posting and reading and little tidbits, it became clearer that Ant is indeed female. smile

Yes at those temps at Cooma Airport, some flakeage possible. Adaminaby is a little higher and cooler, also Jindabyne. smile

Surprisingly its not that cold in this neck of the woods, at a guessitimate the temp would be around 18 degrees.
Wind has really ramped up in the last hour or so, gusting up to about 80kmph.

Eddy, wait till the winds shift more southish. smile

Like you we are mostly Nw or WNW winds at the moment. The coldest air though is not pushing all that far north. Getting closer to here now and it appears to be cooling slightly again.

Anyone know what conditions are like down on the NSW South Coast, including Merimbula? No doubt it would be in stark contrast to the sapphire-blue skies and warm temperatures in high summer, but when I checked the Canberra radar I couldn't tell exactly what conditions were like down there.

I've met ant in person, and I can confirm that this is indeed the case. There are quite a few female weather nuts around here!

Classic westerly change with brilliant blue sky on the coast, whilst Bx is socked in with so called "tablelands cloud". The reverse tends to be true in the warmer months smile.

The wind is getting up in places, some widespread power outages in the Hunter which tends to happen whenever gusts get over 80 km/h. Sydney a little bit milder gusting about 60 km/h at most places which is short of the forecast so far, we'll see what happens this afternoon.

Edit: The Airport has just clocked a 72 km/h gust.

Edit Reason: excess wind

Whoa!! I just checked the Melbourne 512km composite radar, look at the huge band of heavy rain that's just crossed the Murray River between Echuca/Moama and the NSW Snowy Mountains! Looks intense, should reach the Wagga Wagga area in around an hour or so! smile

Cheers DaveM, just looking at obs from Newcastle 15 degrees and obs from Taree 18 degrees, im sort of halfway between the two, so it probably wont be long before that cooler air arrives.

Just went for a bit of a drive in Canberra, definitely some small sleet mixed into the rain in a few parts with the strong wind gusts.
