I must be in the wrong part of Katoomba; didn't see any flakes despite our keen observing. Cleared up now.
Got a few young snow virgins with us so hoping for something before we leave tomorrow.

Where are you Kizz? I am on the far south-western edge of Katoomba at 1020m a.s.l.

I'm in Loftus Rd towards the Scenic World end of town. Extended family gathering.

That wind is howling.

Kizz enjoying some cold weather, great to see poke. Hopefully a few sneaky flurries make it to you, Blackheath and Mt. Vic usually do a little better in a classic SW'ly change though.

Family gathering for me as well tomorrow, unfortunately it's in Sydney, otherwise I probably would have made the trip to the OP. I'm not confident of a decent settling on the BMs with this one unfortunately.

It seems that settlings are rare in the BM's nowadays. You really need a deep, cold ECL that brings cold, rain/snow filled S/SW winds. Whereas in these classic winter cold fronts precip usually dries out before reaching the BM's.

It's all timing with these systems. Had the coldest air coincided closer to that first frontal band of moisture I reckon we would seen a nice dusting and settling of snow here in the BM's. It's rare to see snow after that first crossing of the front, at least up here in the BM's, as like you said, it's usually too dry after that. Still hopeful we might see something.

Another band of showers moving through here at the moments. Very windy. With the odd snowflake.

Andrew.

Coldest temperatures will follow the trough that is pushing through southern Victoria at the moment.

Yeh a bit mild at the moment Homer. Wind is roaring outside. Looking forward to what eventuates from the next band of showers but Orange Airport still warmer than here so nothing colder to our west at the moment.

The last shower of rain that has just gone through here was quite heavy and had some big wet snowflakes mixed in with it that I could easily see...It's getting closer !!

Yep Col,

A bit too warm atm, but not bad temps all the same, and the front through this afternoon that saw temps drop dramatically and give you a flurry or two was testament to that.
It can be seen on the current sat pics the slingshot effect of this system, and the better trajectory of the cold air impulses. Yet, it can also be seen the moisture dries up after the next trough has passed.
Colder air will be through on Monday, but it will be much drier.
This next trough - tomorrow morning, is I believe the best chance of a few cm's.

Homer

Thanks Homer and WW.
That sudden temp drop at Orange Airport is interesting. We were a good 0.5c cooler than OA this afternoon so will await this next band of showers.

Nice fall lasting about an hour earlier this afternoon in Oberon, hardly settled though. Took a drive out to Shooters and there's a solid cover of several centimetres. Raining slightly at the moment here back in town, but the Coronas are going down well.

I'm here at Lake Lyell and the temp is 4.
the wind chill is bloody cold .
Raining for the last hour with the odd sleet.
We are in my camper but the wife was not too happy .
Wet and cold is not her cup of tea.
She is a sleep now so I'm off the hook ATM.
Having a few ports and if it gets good I will let you know.
We are at 800 mts so just trying our luck tonight.
