So I guess you were a bodyboarder, coz you were talking bottom hand turns? I must be new the blond haired, blue eyed surf commando now smile

Gotta love the old bottom hand turn, never fails to get ya into a barrel in a shorey smile

Can't wait til summer so I can bodyboard as well as do some ocean photography in the surf smile

Brrr, looks like tomorrow will be a cold one. The southerly is already charging up the coast. Just 14C predicted here tomorrow.

Seascape of Corrimal beach, surf has been flattened by the westerly today. Was much bigger yesterday.

Thanks Chris and Eddy, that was probably one of the only surfable waves of today. Most of the waves were too small!

And great photo Eddy and a nice sunset! smile

reillyp, a bottom hand turn is either a forehand bottom turn when facing wave or backhand bottom hand turn with back to wave. Mayb different lingo now for body boarders. By way reilly, where is pic other posters have commended you for. I dont see it.

Great shot eddyg. Cloud bank cleared about 5 here. Tame stuff. Clear sky. Bom still going for 13 for Newie morrow. Seems a tad low. Got to around 19 I guess today. Wind was quite chilly under cloud at around 3pm.

There werent body body boarders back in early 70's. A few knee boarders and some guys on blow ups. Ian 'Kanga' Cairns is one surfer from that era who had a powerful BHT with an amazing follow up snap back. Worth googlin. Umm still can't see pic in your post above avalon's. Glitch my end I guess.

Can you see Eddy's photo? it's a bit smaller. I may have made the photo too big on the post for some people's internet.

Yep Home boy - a big fog at Bx, Orange boring sunny. smile

Going to be interesting to see if we really do go no further than 10 degrees today (forecast), no cloud, no cold wind, 100% sunshine, unless something of those things change I reckon we will wander on past 10 degrees today.

Liking to potential rain this coming weekend. Hope it comes through!!

Yeah i was thinking we will go past 14c but looking at temps around sydney coastline are pretty cold, im not to sure we will go way beyond 14c. Skies are relatively clear here with just a slight SW breeze. Can see a nice bank of cumulus just sitting offshore to my south.

Better walk the dog before the cold arrives!!

Actually suprised by this coldie. With cloud thickening up it might stay sub 14. Can't recall what lowest max was in July. Certianly chilly air mass. Norah Head currently 12.6. Lowest max on record is 11.4 in 1996. So pretty cold 28 kms south of here. Nobbys a smidge over 13. Lowest max is 11.2 also in 1996. Now what was i doin in 1996. Ahh yes. Now I remember

Geez, it's so cold. This actually feels like a real winter day. The southerly feels icy cold, especially with the cloud cover coming over. Possibly the coldest day in a few years.

It got to a balmy 16.8c earlier today, currently 13.9c and falling, winds haven't been overly strong today and now starting to swing from SW to the south.
Starting to cloud over with the odd spit.
Bring on this rain!!!

What was the odd spit earlier on is now firming up from the south. Some nice showers.

Temp has been low today but for some reason it doesnt have winter feel to me. Its not a strong wind so maybe thats it.

You should be able to see thicker grey stuff south of you eddy.

You're a hard one to please WJ, today is about as cold as it gets round these parts (at least nowadays). You're right, it's not a howling southerly but it's strong enough for a solid winter feel at least down here, apparent temp hasn't got above 5C at the Airport.

Disappointing that it's such a dry airmass though, there were some light showers around here this morning with the temp between 7 and 8C but they didn't make landfall on higher ground. There could be some white stuff on the Barringtons if the precip makes it that far, but it's very coastal at this stage.

Apparent temp of 5 at Mascot is a pretty fair effort!! That would have had plenty of people shivering away!! smile

More common than you think, similar on the 2nd of August as well. I was down on the Botany Bay foreshore that afternoon and even I found it pretty chilly. Not many people out enjoying the brisk conditions smile.

13C actually feels quite warm at higher elevations in anything lighter than a strong breeze. The damp chill of low elevations is definitely noticeable.
