I see Nobby's hit a high temp of 13.8c at 9.19pm, nearly a whole degree warmer than most of the day!!

Supermoon is doing a great job of illuminating the clouds out to sea. Its now relatively clear apart from the clouds offshore, wind is almost calm here, currently 11.3c

Just had an anvil from one of the cells offshore go over the moon, just like in the horror movies. Very bright once it came out again

Looks like we will have showers on the Hunter coast by morning, hope some of the wet stuff moved inland as well it is so dry here,we should get some good rain later in the week if we miss out on this coastal stuff that is developing now.

Some more showers have arrived. 1mm so far so maybe a couple more to come soon. Still cant believe how long it's been since we have had some precip in this area. The sound is music to the ears.

I agree Marts. The rain has been beautiful tonight. It's deceptively cold as well. It's not very often we have temps hovering between 5 and 8 degrees in the Sydney basin with showers coming in from the SE, with APP temps as low as 2.6 at Campbelltown.
Moss Vale is currently minus 2.1 with an app temp of minus 6.7, with winds from the WSW at 11 km/h.
Even Obs Hill is at 8.5/3.9!!!
Moruya AP is a surprising 1.5 degrees/minus 1.7 app.

Other good temps at 11 pm are Goulburn minus 5, Cooma - minus 4.8, Perisher - minus 7.6 and Thredbo TS - minus 10!!

The showers really starting to build offshore. Haven't had a decent splash of rain in months... Some light precipitation is seen creeping towards the blue mountains would be interesting to see some flakes at Katoomba as it is at 0.5 degrees.

Steady rain in eastern suburbs since about 8pm with some decent echoes on radar crossing coast now, some orange to red intensity. Total of 15mm at Randwick by about 1am. And pretty cold out there too at 7.7 deg.

Mostly cloudy here but no rain yet. The SW'ly is doing a good job at fending off any showers that try to hit the coast. Still icy cold though

That was a nice drop of rain here. Got unused to the sound of rain at night.

Unfortunately the best falls seem to have been confined to Sydney and the Eastern part at that. Looks like more to come though, hopefully it will be spread more widely.

Observatory Hill had its best fall since April 14.

Homer, quite interesting those Goulburn etc temps of last night. We had cloud cover so nowhere near as cold. Reilly was sending excess cloud to us. smile

Nice to hear of showers/rain down that way last night. We all could do with a good drink. Hopefully this weekend will make many of us a lot damper!! smile

Still getting thin cloud spilling over from the coast this morning. Makes it feel col with not much sun.

Hey DB, correct, 13 up here can feel lovely and pleasant, moisture laden air though often feels worse.

Models still all over the place with the weekend's rain, could be a feast or famine as is often the case. Somewhere will get a decent drink though.

Re. the Supermoon, I don't think it's all hype. It was almost as bright as twilight at 3 AM this morning, I had trouble getting back to sleep. You could almost read by it I reckon. When I actually got up just after 6 it was darker, since cloud and showers had moved in.

Only 0.5mm in the 24hrs to 9am. Currently just the odd heavy spit about.
Forecast temp is 14c, currently 9.1c, today is the day i reckon the temp will struggle to get to its forecast!!

Seemed to rain all night in eastern suburbs with occasional heavy bursts. Still coming down steadily now but cells weakening inland. Recorded 29mm overnight, top metro 32mm at Little Bay. Best rain for 9 weeks here. Winter total so far 150mm still well short of norm. Maybe more widespread rain for Sydney/NSW in a few days from inland system.

Wind gone west at Newie and forecast of 15 will be breached i'd say. Still SW here but cloud has broken up and sunny breaks. If wind got SE a few showers could re appear. Why Bom forecast has rain instead of showers for Newie is beyond me.

Wind in Newie back to SW again so that will slow temp rise and some showers now. If only the action offshore would make landfall.

BOM's forecast for Newcastle says 'Showers developing, heavy at times' (and 14 degrees).
Must be referring to WZ's Nobbys Head 7 day forecast which has the 'Rain' (and 15 degrees)? smile

Those showers just offshore are really struggling to come onshore, just 1.6mm from a few heavy spits.
Cant wait for the winds to swing SE.

Temp is slowing nudging itself to the forecast max, currently 12.7c
