44.6mm in the 24 hours to 9am here this morning. The vast majority of that falling between 4pm yesterday and 1am this morning. Shortly after midnight there was a particularly squally shower that moved through, packed quite a punch with the rain and wind (surprised it didn't produce at least a flash of lightning).
Lingering chance of a shower or two here until evening.

A nice 80mm in the last 24 hours. Currently sitting at 15C with 82% humidity and a 1014 barometer reading. It's overcast with a very light breeze now and then. Beautiful day after the rain smile

The total precip. out here in the past 24 hours has been 26mm. The total for the month is 60mm! Not a bad way to wrap up the winter!

Sun is our here in Lismore today. I haven't been down to Ballina but I am not hearing of too much damage but don't quote me on that. Rainfall totals for this neck of the woods are very impressive with rain rates measured up to 126mm/hr in Ballina. Some of this area also didn't have rain start until after 1300. 24 hr rainfall to 9am:

East Ballina 310mm reported by reliable member of public
West Ballina 230mm reported by member of public

The rest reported by BoM
Tuckombil 182mm
Lake Ainsworth 177mm
Alstonville 174mm
Richmond Hill 168mm
Dawson St Lismore 160
Tuncester 145mm
Goolmangar 140mm
Lismore AP AWS 139mm
Bentley 130mm
Kyogle 107mm

There are many other centers with similar amounts in the corridor of Ballina Lismore Kyogle. The 310mm is possible considering the surface low that developed off Byron. Surprised not more wind damage. Certainly was an exciting evening though!

Several brief showers have moved through today bringing 1.2mm since 9am. The showery flow looks to now have a SSW'ly kick in it, so that should now instead keep the shower activity offshore of here.
Rainfall summary during event:
21st - 0.6mm
22nd - 31.2mm
23rd - 23.0mm
24th - 2.2mm
25th - 4.2mm
26th - 71.8mm
27th - 44.6mm
28th (to 9pm) - 1.2mm
Event total - 178.8mm

Notable stats:
* August 26th was the wettest day since November 10th last year (when 73.6mm fell).
* There have been 8 consecutive raindays. This is the longest wet spell since 22 consecutive raindays between February 12th to March 4th (inclusive) last year.
* Contributed to making this the wettest August since 1952, and the fourth wettest August on record (records since 1939). August 1950 is the wettest August on record, followed by Aug 1949, then Aug 1952.
* Contributed to making this the wettest month since May last year (when 304.4mm fell).

Headed out very late this afternoon.
Looking northwards from Horseshoe Bay headland at South West Rocks, plenty of people and cars on the headland watching the surf:

Looking west across Trial Bay towards the setting sun as a shower raced in from the south (the western side of the bay is very sheltered from large surf). South West Rocks town centre / Horseshoe Bay headland on the far left and Yarrahapinni Mountain on the right:

Wave near Trial Bay Gaol, looking northwards out to sea. Light was fading fast by this point and I didn't realise that this picture was kinda blurry until I got home:

Btw, I wondered why Channel Seven (Prime7) wasn't working until about 6:20pm tonight. It turns out that a lightning strike hit the Mt Moombil transmitter near Coffs last night: https://www.facebook.com/Prime7NewsNorthCoast/posts/948476501836133
