Interesting.
That's one deg more than here. That's interesting too.

Yeah thought as much, 5% hotter here than Dural, see breeze must be kicking in late down there??

Wonder what the temp is in Elle Bikinios territory??

Newy radar showing plenty of activity out to sea again!! Nothing but moonlight out there.

We're sitting on 17.3C now with the land breeze. Should get down to about 16C overnight and hit a top of 25-26C in the Illawarra, with a top of 19-20C in the Highlands. SE'ly in the mid-late arvo (4-5pm) should cool things down after a cloudy but warm day.

The NE'er sure was quite strong in arvo aye, especially along the coast. Not so much out here though.

You'd better watch out WJ, that piccie could be inappropriate. wink

Nice pic Stormy smile

On a serious note. What a beautiful patterning of cloud round the moon. Like a doily. Pretty warm still too although I don't mind it coz I need thawing after standing facing the sea gale for around 3 hours.

Today started off cloudy, all low cloud thanks to the weak southerly change the previous night. Despite the change temperatures remained quite mild last night with temperatures hovering between the 16-17 degree mark. I was asleep for the majority of the time, so I can not say whether it remained fine all night, I do suspect there was some slight mizzle at times, but I cannot say for sure. The washing was quite dry early though, so i'm thinking it remained dry for the entire time. The low cloud actually burnt off really really early, like 7:30am especially once the northerly became established. Temperatures rose above 20c just after 10am, however the NE'ly wind kept the maximum to a very comfortable 25c. This was 4degrees below what the bureau were expecting for us. I did note that the Southern Highlands reached the high 20's today, this would've created a nice inversion for coastal areas particularly around Wollongong. Had we got the NW wind that the Highlands experienced, then i'm sure 30c would've been cracked, but the NE wind held firm. Kangaroo Valley may have been hot, as they are only 100 meters above sea level but perhaps far enough inland to experience that hotter wind. Much of the day was sunny with only a few wispy high clouds, the sea breeze was only moderate here in Nowra making for a beautiful day. Cloudcover thickened in the mid to upper levels towards sun down, however the sunset was quite lame with too much cloud cover on the horizon. Its now cooled down to about 16c again with a light breeze, and cloudy conditions overhead.

Feel flattered you noticed Homer. he he he. And all that time subjecting myself to the salty bluster I never caught one damn fish. Saltry day coming up. Lot of N easters for October.

Yes, it did indeed create a very hazy inversion here. It was especially pronounced when we were riding around the dirt trails on the foothills of the escarpment around 200-300m. I assume the seabreeze wasn't much thicker than this elevation as the haze was much thicker on the escarpment which tells me that we were near the top of the inversion.

Yeah and Kangaroo Valley also has the benefit of facing NW-SE creating a wind tunnel for the NW'er. We desperately need an AWS in K Valley to capture the microclimate in the valley. It would be very different to Nowra.

Yes EL, I also reckon that there will be plenty of NE'ers in October and that means lots of filthy air for here because of the inversions, as the seabreeze in Oct is never thick enough to affect the Highlands, so the haze cannot escape.

Yeah Kangaroo Valley has a vastly different climate to Nowra and in a straight line they're only 18kms apart Thick fogs occur year round, especially in Autumn and winter. These fogs can last until the afternoon if the weather conditions are right. I'm certain they would collect at least another 500 mms annually more than Nowra. Nights much colder, maximums probably similar to Nowra assuming the fog lifts early enough. I have been through there in winter under a thick fog at 10am, the temperature was around 3c, whilst Nowra was in beaming sunshine and 16c. An AWS would be extremely interesting. Luckily I live 15 minutes from the Valley, and I manage to get there once a fortnight for photography etc.

Glad you got a lol out of my previous post Homer. It was a very interesting day, full of weather! A lot of times we don't get cloud, so I felt privileged to see cloud in the early morning and also the late afternoon! Wow! Seriously though I was so bored with the weather, I decided to make rain bows with the garden hose and try to capture it on camera. The first 2 months of Spring are often a snore fest, and that's exactly what it is down here. Early to mid Autumn has been a lot more active in recent years.

Yeah it was so interesting wasn't it pingtang!! I also felt privileged to see cloud in the morning, especially the beautiful stratoCu! And then the beautiful NE'er with thick haze. I love being 4 km from the escarpment and hardly being able to see it in the late afternoon because of haze. Amazing!!

I love using sarcasm. smile

Yeah they are usually, Pingtang, especially now that thunderstorms are becoming rare in early to mid-spring. Speaking of storms, I really hope we do see a good storm season.
