MK - lovely as usual. Nice n moody. smile

Eddy, fair effort with the phone ole chap!! smile Bit of character in that cloud.

I'm a little interested in the models for next week. Plenty of variation between them BUT looking like some sort of inland rain/storm event quite possible from Monday for several days. As I said, the models vary quite a bit but there's enough commonality to get me interested.

Potential rain ranges from several mm to 20-40 or even more depending on which model you like. AccessG has a damn big pool of 540 thickness hanging about over western NSW for several days. Other don't. However the general positioning of a trough/low reasonably similarish. smile

The green grass out here is a sham, hill tops browning/haying off quickly, without rain the green will be gone in a flash out here. Fingers crossed. smile

Thanks DaveM, you can pull some decent photos from samsung phones.

Lets hope you get a decent drop Davem and hope those storm come out and play!!

Temp has dropped nearly 4 degrees here since that change came through, currently 16.5c, fairly ordinary day out there now, grey and drizzly, wind is fairly strong as well, gusting around the 40kmph.

Time to put on a jumper!!

I'm with you on this one DM. Spring has seen well below avge rainfall out this way. Even moreso further west. This system is still a fair way off, so the models vary across significant detail, but, importantly, they're all playing the same game with an incursion of colder uppers and a cutoff, slow moving surface low tracking across the SE inland which will enhance rain prospects. Heads up! smile

Yeah Dave, the models do look pretty interesting. Lets hope that thunderstorms eventuate out of this set up. smile

It's really cleared up here in the last hour. There's now lengthy sunny breaks and almost no cloud to the east. So I might actually have the chance to see this lunar eclipse after all!! Thats if the cloud stays away until then smile

Going to be touch and go tonight for the lunar eclipse in this neck of the woods. Satellite pic is showing a bit of a clearing trend to the south, fingers crossed we get a couple of breaks.

2.6mm from the constant light drizzle today, wind has died and the temp is slowly on the rise 16.4c after a low of 15.8c at lunch time.

The cloud has certainly returned here now, but it's not full cloud cover so we might receive 2 or 3 breaks where we could see a brief glimpse of the eclipse.

Cloud has cleared seaward and moon has risen beautifully. Look fwd to eclipse. Some cloud to West and SW but should not spoil it.

Getting a bit cloudy again. Such a shame to see such a celestial event marred by this garbage cloud. Bugger off!!

It's quite annoying aye, EN. I swear this happens every time we have a solar or lunar eclipse. I just checked outside and there is thick, low cloud everywhere. The moon's position in the sky can't even be seen. A shame really.

I'm with you guy's, it's so annoying especially when it's just junk cloud sitting there. Hope we all get a window soon.
On a different note here had the highest rainfall to 9am this morning which most of it fell around 5am.

Almost the same problem here in SEQ, moon briefly appeared a short while ago (nearly half in shadow- not any real sign of redness)

Getting the odd glimpse, not real red at this stage. Hoping for some serious breaks in the cloud!!

I've got a view of the Moon with the right hand side in shadow. Unfortunately there's a lot of cloud about but there are lots of gaps. Hopefully we can get a few glimpses of totality some time during the 55 minutes it lasts.

Yes, garbage cloud, the curse of the East Coast. Sometimes I dislike the marine layer as much as some posters here dislike the heat.

On another subject, I forecast thick, solid cloud for Sydney on July 22, 2028: http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEgoogle/SEgoogle2001/SE2028Jul22Tgoogle.html

There must be a link between southerly airstreams and eclipses, cannot recall when sydney had clear skies when we had a event live this. Supposed to be the driest time of the year.

I'll be in my late 70s.

The cloud seems to have taken over now. I'll look out from time to time. There's another 35 minutes or so to go but I'm not hopeful

Actually July is probably the best time for an eclipse in Sydney. Even so, if I'm in any condition to do so, I'll be making plans to head for the outback that day. Hopefully there won't be a NW cloud band.

Can't see anything either, not even any brightness from the full moon. Could at least rain out of this cloud but no we can't even have that.

There have been some gaps in the cloud so I've been able to catch a few glimpses. Sydney's North Shore isn't the best place to view the sky even when it's clear. Even going to The Central Coast it makes a huge difference. You can see the Milky Way.

I tried taking pictures with my iphone but they didn't dn't turn out any better than when I wave my mobile phone at the sky during thunderstorms. The cloud's closed in now but hopefully there'll be another couple of sighting before it's over.
