Looks good for snow on the peaks tonight and towards breakfast tomorrow. Perhaps lower areas too - right now Armidale is 2C with recent precipitation. Radar shows more showers approaching. Must be close as least - are there any locals able to report anything?

Thanks for the report BB. Anyone else happen to go to, or is at Mt Mackenzie by any chance?

There was a covering of snow on the ground this morning of only about 1 or 2cm but it had melted by around 8am or so. Last night there were showers of sleet or small hail, but no snow prior to 11pm.

Yes Ken, that report was for Guyra. The following is a report in The Guyra Argus regarding snow falls over the Northern Tablelands:

"It may have been the start of Spring this week but someone forgot to tell the weather gods.
After a mild start to the week, we were plunged back into winter just a day later when a cold front passed through the Northern Tablelands on Tuesday afternoon.
The change arrived with strong gusty winds and several showers of soft hail (sometimes referred to as sago snow) during the afternoon and evening.
In the early hours of Wednesday September 3 there were light snow showers with a patchy cover on the ground at sunrise, which melted soon after 9am.
There were reports of light coverage on the ground at Ben Lomond and Black Mountain. Light snow fell in the afternoon at Ebor with a heavier fall around 8 to 9pm.
Heavier falls were reported further south at Bendemeer, Nundle and Hanging Rock where 7-8cm fell.
Falls were also reported in the Blue Mountains and there were reports of up to 20cm in the Barrington Tops.
The snow comes after a drier than normal winter that ended on a positive note with rainfall totalling 79.0 mm. All of the falls came in the second half of the month."

I'm hearing reports of some snow around Guyra tonight? Considering the weather bomb slamming the Sydney region tonight with solid falls of snow across the blue mtns I'm not surprised. Looked like a little shower may have yielded a dusting around the black Mountain area. The question now is if this huge low and rain / snow mass comes north tonight / tomorrow the northern tablelands could be in for quite an icy surprise with little warning!

This was my second year chasing. It appeared to be a good season, with 4 settled falls. Let's hope next season we get some heavier falls, and something that crosses the border!
One thing i've learnt is to find the highest elevation possible. We travelled to Guyra for the May fall. It was puking down, but not settling. We ended up travelling to Ben Lomond and the only snow that settled was on a tiny stretch of road at 1440metres for a period of ten minutes.
