206mm of evaporation so far for the month, I don't reckon that 2 did much Brett!

Looking at the obs for the last few days, that wind has had far too much southerly in it.

Any noticed how cool it is considering we are one week out from November? Usually by now, the heat and humidity is getting to the point of unbearable. But this year, after such a long cold winter, I am still sleeping with fans off… this is very unusual right? November is ONE WEEK AWAY! WTF??

Definitely cooler than normal but the lack of humidity is astounding. Still talking sub 50percent R/Hey most days.

My current October averages are 19.2c and 30c, even the Max temp seems like it would be about average to me for G'vale. Just the lower humidity and wind making it feel cooler I reckon.
Records 05 May 1941 to 30 Sep 2010 indicate that for Oct 3pm obs just over 50% is from the N or NE - certainly not this year.

0.2mm overnight

Yeah lack of humidity is amazing and how cool the nights are still. Average this month so far is 18.7 compared to 21.0 last year.
Also have had 7 "rainy" days this month for a measly total of 14.6mm.

Spent the last couple of days up at Cooktown. Warm during the day and pleasant temperatures at night, with a defiant lack of humidly up there as well.

Wasn't full on with the wind for a change up that way.The area could do with a good bit of rain. Very dry.

Stunning day down at Holloways. Sitting in the shade with that breeze it felt more like a good winter's day.

We like Cooktown. A nice place to just get away.

We had land there in the late '70's.

The joint soon filled with feral's and weirdo's after the blockade time.
Land got sold in the mid '80's

Some awesome photos of the Storms that went through SA yesterday. My olds were telling me al about it this morning. God how I miss these storms. I never thought, moving to the tropics, I would be so storm deprived.

Here is a link to the thread just to tease PG 8 onwards.

Same here Simmo. Even after nearly 8 years in FNQ I am still astounded at just how few storms we get here. I am almost tempted to start chasing a few when they finally get going up on the tablelands. But they are even really late up there this year.

The storms down in SA and VIC have been insane, causing major drama's.

I still remember that severe electrical storm at the tale end of Yasi. The thunder shock the whole house and the light was awesome.

Yes HF, still a relaxing place. Fishing off the wharf,- a takeaway feed from the 'Shark & Taters' and a 6 pack or two.

We used to ride our trail bikes up the CREB track in the late '70s, early '80's & stay at the old sovereign pub. A few beers at the 'Helenvale Hilton' on the way up and back too !
