Well let's hope we can find something a little more photogenic than that Pine Creek job we were trying to shoot tonight hey. It's a shame seeing all those clear-air bolts going to waste behind the haze. mad

Sticky old night back in Darwin, arrived home at midnight and it was still 30C with DP's on 25.5C

Yeah mate she's a proper war zone out there! Savagery!

Left the northern burbs in the dark with the usual power outage lol

I see the Chase was up to 78mm. Stokes Hill on 43mm

A stack of nice 25-50mm stuff in it's path on the way up from Katherine too which is good to see.

A few decent totals around the traps.

A fair bit of residual anvil to clear off this morning around the Top End but all things being equal it should be firing off again this evening, particularly inland. Will probably target the Kakadu escarpments myself, see how it looks mid afternoon.

Ended up with 94mm here but heavier falls on the eastern suburbs of Palmy with a report of 116mm at Rosebery and 108 at Bakewell. As you said Jase this arvo, tonight and tomorrow looking outstanding for similar smashings smile

101.3mm here at Marlow Lagoon from last night's storm!
What a cracker of a storm that was. Angry flangs over Palmerston!
I haven't had much sleep as I was too tempted to sit out the back and enjoy it while getting some video of the huge crawlers.
I feel like utter crap now but at the same time extremely satisfied. grin

That line heading for Darwin looks interesting. Just noticed it out of random looking.

Yeah it rolled through town after midnight, dumped some rain and made a bit of a racket but it was far from the most photogenic thunderstorm Darwin sees that's for sure. A few of us chased inland throughout the afternoon and evening and the recurring theme was heavy smoke haze and mid level junk obscuring the clean bolts and this one was no exception. Very frustrating!

Anyway, here's a bit of a look at one of the updrafts off in the distance as it approached town.

A few flashes and the odd crack of thunder during the night, mostly over towards the city and out over the harbour. 8mm down at Fort Hill, dribs and drabs elsewhere.

27/25 at 4am so pretty sticky outside.

Nice pick-up Jase. Could see the towering thunderheads from Palmerston this arvo. Seemed to build-up very quickly. Even had a heavy shower through Mouldung and Bellamack but nothing like what Katherine appear to be getting smashed with atm shocked

Yeah definately some angry stuff inland throughout the day mixing down some strong winds by way of some reasonably strong shear. That Katherine cell late this afternoon looked particularly nasty with a period of serious inflow dominance right as the storm approached town.

On the other hand, the stuff that approached from the SE this evening was pretty messy. Very lightning active but once again it was dominated by ugly old core bolts firing through an extremely low base and heavy rain core making it almost impossible to get any decent shots.

One from out Middle Point way.

Thanks.

Firing nicely in Litchfield again this afternoon, big pancake anvil on the TS over Finniss at the moment and plenty of bolts as it went up. Going strong around Labelle too.

Nice shot Jase. I wondered if you might be out there last night.
Plenty of noise out here over the last hour or so with a cell just passing to the south of Palmerston. Not sure if it will have the legs to reach the city but think it will give it its best shot smile
